This is a demo project on the Nuer Phrasebook, part of the Nuer (Thok Naath) Languages Preservation Volunteer Project and an extension of the Nuer Lexicon project.

​This project extends the availability of Nuer language resources by providing an interactive Nuer (Thok Naath) phrasebook equipped with searchable entries, dialect filtering, pronunciation support, and audio playback.

a demo of our Dinka Text-to-Speech (TTS) system, co-developed by Dayom Technologies and Alaak Atem, an NLP researcher working on the Dinka language.

One of the biggest advantages is that Dinka has more than 6,000 hours of speech data. This makes it possible to fine-tune open-source models, such as Meta's TTS models, and build better AI tools for the Dinka language.

This is still an early prototype, but it is an important step toward making Dinka more available in AI and technology.

One of the easiest ways to build AI for a low-resource language like Nuer and Dinka is through cross-lingual transfer learning.

Instead of training a language model from scratch, we start with a model that already understands many languages. Then we fine-tune it using QLoRA, which is a memory-efficient training method.

Why is this the easiest path......?

1. We don't need millions of Nuer sentences.
2. Training is much faster.
3. It uses less GPU memory, making it more affordable.
4. The model can transfer knowledge from high-resource languages like English to Nuer.

For languages with limited data, this approach is practical and gives strong results.

Our goal is to help bring the Nuer and Dinka language into the AI era by building open and useful NLP tools for everyone.

Releasing a 500,000 Parallel Corpus for South Sudanese Languages

I'm excited to announce the upcoming release of a 500,000-sentence parallel corpus covering English – Nuer – Dinka on Hugging Face.

This dataset is being made freely available to support the global AI and NLP community. My goal is to help researchers, students, and developers build machine translation systems, multilingual language models, chatbots, speech technologies, and other AI applications for South Sudanese languages.

By making this resource open, I hope to reduce the barriers to developing high-quality language technologies for communities that have long been underrepresented in AI.

Whether you're training a translation model, fine-tuning an LLM, or conducting NLP research, this dataset provides a strong foundation for your work.

The impending SpaceX IPO (ticker: SPCX) is targeting a staggering $1.75 trillion valuation, causing massive shockwaves in the financial world. While internet rumors confuse valuation with revenue, SpaceX’s actual 2025 revenue was $18.7 billion. Pricing a company at nearly 90 times its revenue has some analysts warning of a massive market disruption.

​Why Critics Fear a Financial Shockwave
​The threat to the economy isn't that SpaceX is a fake company, but rather the sheer mechanical gravity of an IPO this size. SpaceX is looking to extract $75 billion in cash directly out of the market. To absorb a new $1.75 trillion giant, index funds will be forced to liquidate tens of billions of dollars in existing blue-chip stocks, potentially triggering a sharp tech-sector correction.

​Furthermore, SpaceX’s S-1 filing reveals heavy financial strain under the hood:
​Deepening Losses: SpaceX posted a $4.94 billion net loss in 2025.
​The AI Burn Rate: Following its merger with xAI, losses accelerated to $4.28 billion in Q1 2026 alone as Starlink's internet profits are poured into massive Nvidia GPU data centers.

​Ultimately, public investors will have zero say. Elon Musk has structured the shares to retain 85.1% of the voting power, meaning anyone buying the IPO is strapping into a rocket with absolutely no control over where it flies.

In 2000, he created FFmpeg – the video engine behind every YouTube clip, Netflix show, and TikTok you’ve ever watched.
In 2003, he wrote QEMU – the virtualization software powering every server on AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure.
He also:
- Held the world record for most digits of pi
- Built TinyCC (boots Linux in under 15 seconds)
- Created JSLinux (a PC emulator in your browser)

He never spoke at TED. Never posted a “thought leadership” thread. Never chased fame.

The tech world celebrates founders who raise billions and burn out.
Fabrice Bellard built the infrastructure of the modern world… and then kept building.
