22/02/2023
Greetings Scouts of Kenya,
Today, on the 22nd of February 2023, we celebrate Founders Day, a day that marks the birth of the Scouting movement. Today, we remember the founding fathers of Scouting, Lord Robert Baden-Powell and Lady Olave Baden-Powell, who started this movement more than a century ago. We are proud to be part of this movement that has impacted the lives of millions of young people around the world.
This year, the theme for Founders Day is "Unleashing Youth Potential for Environmental Conservation". As Scouts, we are called to be stewards of the environment and to take an active role in conserving the natural resources that we rely on. We must recognize that the actions we take today will have an impact on the world that we will inherit tomorrow.
As Scouts of Kenya, we have a responsibility to lead the way in environmental conservation. We must encourage our peers to be environmentally conscious and to take actions that protect our planet. We must take action by planting trees, cleaning up our communities, and conserving water and energy.
This year, we will be commemorating Founders Day at the graveside of Lord Robert Baden-Powell and Lady Olave Baden-Powell at the BP Memorial Home. This is a solemn occasion where we will pay our respects to the founders of Scouting and reflect on the values that they instilled in us. We will be joined by leaders and dignitaries, who will share their thoughts on the importance of Scouting and the role that we play in building a better world.
On this Founders Day, I urge all Scouts of Kenya to reflect on the values of Scouting and to take action to make our world a better place. Let us be the change that we want to see in the world. Happy Founders Day!
Chief Commissioner, KSA.
