Kiambu Governor, James Nyoro, today launched the Kamangu Water supply Project in Kiambu-sub County. This project is after the Kamangu area has been suffering a shortage in water production. He stated this is among the first water projects that the county will be delivering soon. Kamangu is getting their water pumped from the Uondiri wetlands where Upepo smart meters installed will monitor real-time data, track the water distribution, and send alerts whenever there is any abnormality in the water distribution.

Day 2 of Upepo’s training in Eldoret was graced by Family Bank’s Branch Manager Joseph Mwaura who received a demo on real time data transfer of water distribution and consumption in one of Kenya’s fastest growing towns. The visit by Mr. Mwaura cements a growing partnership between financial institutions and Upepo looking for opportunities to leverage real time data for product development and the mobilization of assets and liabilities. Upepo’s Bahari platform that unifies data from various resources, validates it onto maps provides such an opportunity for not only banks, but also insurance and asset management firms, real estate, valuation and e-commerce companies seeking a clearer picture of consumer characteristics at the last mile.
