Today, 19th June 2026, marks the end of a massive 4-year chapter.
Tonight, my cohort (The Computer Science Class of 2026) and I are heading to the Maxland Hotel at Juja Mall for our Computer Science Gala, coined "The Final Commit". And honestly, "finishing in style" feels deeply earned, because getting to this day was anything but easy.
If Iโm being completely transparent, there were many moments over the last four years where things simply did not add up. Between relentless assignments, brutal CATs, and moving goalposts for deadlines, there were days I wanted to give up entirely. Times where the screen just stared back at me, and I felt like I hit a wall I couldn't climb.
But looking back, that friction is exactly what shaped me. Computer science doesnโt just teach you how to write code; it beats a specific kind of technical grit into you. It gives you the grounding to look at an impossible problem, embrace the frustration, and trust that you'll find a way through it.
For me, that grit was tested daily. I spent these four years living a double life, trying to stay afloat in classes while building my startup, CK Tech Creations. Juggling intense academic research in machine learning and automation with the real-world chaos of running an agency was a non-stop balancing act. But those rigorous academic stress-tests became the underlying technical DNA that powers the business today. It taught us to approach business challenges, from full-scale branding, digital marketing, and media production to building complex custom software solutions, with the mind of a systems engineer.
I couldn't have managed it in isolation. Being part of ecosystems like JHUB Africa gave me a space to actively stretch my skills, but it was my classmates who kept me grounded. We spent four years sharing the highs, navigating the lows, and learning from each other's mistakes. We survived the stack together.
Tonight isn't just about a dinner or a graduation milestone. Itโs about celebrating the resilience it took to get here.
To the cohort, we made it across the finish line. Let's celebrate tonight. ๐ฅ
