You’re allowed to walk your dog! Otherwise, you should stay at home! This probably makes sense cause dogs are not to be punished for the acts of humans who spread the virus. But this doesn’t mean that people who wander the streets without dogs are (virus lovers).

The fact that toilet paper was one of the first items to vanish is really worrying... do we need a pandemic to show us how important hygiene is?

Detroit, USA - RIPE
Detroit, once a massive industrial center, has become a world center for urban farming in the last decade. Some resources estimate there are more than 1,500 farms from individual, community gardens to larger-scale farms. Once one of the richest cities in America, Detroit lost two-thirds of its population over the past sixty years, that left many gaps in the economy and social fabric, but also in the urban landscape. It has transformed from the world capital of car manufacturing into a shattered city characterized by vacant lots, empty lots making up almost third of the city. That space was ripe for growing though, and today land is being turned over to agriculture. Like no other city in the world, urban farming has taken root in Detroit, not just as a sideline initiative but as part of a comprehensive revitalization model of a major city that became a symbol for urban decay. Returning the land to farming is spreading seeds of recovery and could be a template for cities worldwide.

London, UK - CATCH
Fishing is often viewed as a country sport, but urban fishing is nowadays very much trending, it requires little equipment and its closeness to places of living and work offers many advantages to fishing in the countryside. Main reason urban fishing is in vogue in recent years however is fish returning to city waterways due to major cleanup efforts in recent decades. In London, A study of more than 2,300 inner-city rivers found out that the city’s waterways were the cleanest they have been in decades. The River Thames, which is now considered one of the world's cleanest metropolitan tide ways with seals, dolphins, and about 120 fish species living in it, was reduced to sewer status between 1860 and 1960 with no water life since it was deprived of oxygen due to feces-feasting bacteria. After serious cleanup efforts by government, water companies and conservation groups, the river today is clean and beaming with life, and once again urban fishermen can be seen trying to make a catch.

Hanoi, Vietnam - INJURED
Hanoi, a city with more motorbikes than households, have roads ranked among the world’s worst for motorcyclists. Traffic accidents remain the biggest single cause of fatalities in Vietnam, mostly on motorbikes, even as the country has been working to make local roads safer. Vietnam enforced a law in 2007 requiring adults to wear helmets when riding motorbikes or otherwise face high fines, adult helmet-wearing then increased from some 40 percent in 2007 to more than 90 percent in 2011, which is reportedly primarily responsible for a reduction in annual traffic accident fatalities along with a reduction in serious brain injuries. But the city of 5 million motorbikes is about to change, the government has agreed to ban motorbikes and scooters by 2030 and decided to invest heavily in public transport instead aiming to increase public transport from the current 12% to reach 50% by 2030, in hopes of unclogging roads and reducing spiraling levels of pollution, where it has been named among the worst cities in Asia for air pollution.

Tokyo, Japan - RIDE
The Japanese rail network is famous worldwide for its superiority and punctuality. However, The Tokyo subway network is a transportation wonder, with an annual ridership of 3.3 Billion people, this overcrowded transportation system carries 8.7 million riders daily, making it the busiest metro in the world. As a result, most metro lines are dangerously overcrowded, with some lines running at 200% capacity. In order to fit twice the number of passengers into a subway carriage, the stations employ uniformed staff known as the “pushers”, whose goal is to stuff as many people as possible into the subway carriage. These white glove-wearing personal actually pushes people into the train, so the doors can be shut.

San Francisco, USA - COAT
There’s an urban legend that the Golden Gate Bridge is always being painted: they start on one side, and by the time they’ve reached the other side, the first side needs a new coat of paint. This isn’t actually true. The bridge has only been completely repainted three times, each time using a more advanced coat and corrosion resistant paint. Painting certain areas of the bridge however is an ongoing task, it protects the Bridge from the high salt content in the air which causes rust and corrosion. In fact, a team of over 30 painters constantly battle wind, sea air and fog to repair corroding steel on a regular basis. As for the bridge’s unique orange color, it was a last-minute decision. The U.S. Navy wanted the bridge be painted in black and yellow stripes to increase its visibility for passing ships. But when the steel arrived in San Francisco painted in a burnt red as primer, the consulting architect team decided the color was both highly visible and more visually pleasing as it blends well with the natural setting. They ended up mixing paint to create the color International Orange, which is similar to the color of red primer.

Flagstaff, USA – DARK

Flagstaff, Arizona is a city of over 70,000, but because of their lighting, their skies are dark enough to see the Milky Way. In 2001, Flagstaff became the first International Dark Sky City. A decades-long commitment to preserving a dark sky for stargazers and wildlife pays off with satellite images showing far less excess artificial light than cities of comparable size. While 80% of Earth’s landmass suffers from light pollution, across the planet, travelers are now seeking out the world’s last-remaining dark skies where they can get a clear, unpolluted view of the stars. In Flagstaff, however, long before Astro Tourism became a growing trend, innovative lighting codes were developed for the city that was the first to restrict the amount of light permitted in outdoor lighting. These codes aide in minimizing artificial sky glow and glare and conserve energy with a goal of protecting the nighttime environment, which goes beyond astronomy as it has impacts on wildlife ecology, public safety, and potentially public health. The state of Arizona is in fact home to the largest 'dark-sky city' cluster.

Singapore, Singapore - TASTY
Singapore is one of the safest street food cities in the world thanks to strictly enforced regulations and centralized hawker areas. Often ranked in the top street food cities worldwide, Singapore took street food off its streets 20 years ago for health and safety concerns, the traders (or hawkers) were moved to warehouses with electricity and running water. Now, if you want a quick and tasty street food bite, you'll have to visit one of more than 100 "hawker centres" in Singapore. "Hawker centres" are similar to western food courts, avenues of lined uniform little boxes serving food with plastic tables and seating in the middle. Some 6,000 hawkers in Singapore each serve about 150 to 200 affordable meals daily. More than 80 per cent of the population visit hawker centres at least once a week. In fact, just recently Singapore submitted a bid to inscribe "hawker culture" on the Unesco Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
