Finally getting back to my Vermithor & Silverwing love piece!

I restarted it because I still wasn't completely convinced by the forms and proportions… sometimes you just need to take a step back and redraw until it feels right.
So... what do you think about the before vs. after?

I'm much happier with the new shapes. I can see more of them.

Next step: colors + rendering!!!

Finally letting myself use that deep black background i've been wanting to experiment with forever.
This sketch became a nice excuse to mess around with color too. Also managed to finish it in time for my birthday ... which happens to be today 😋 !!

Best gift i could give myself tbh

I LOVE to experiment and test different ways, even if it doesn't come out right the first try... i learn a lot and know how i wanna modify this tactic next TIME 😈😈😈

Today I had to take a little break 😁 sooo here some pose experiments I made.

Testing it with recognizable dragon forms of Caraxes, Tessarion & Dreamfyre from HOTD.
I’m still figuring out the structure of Caraxes’ legs 😅 , and Dreamfyre’s shape is giving me a bit of trouble too haha.

I love these little breaks where I can just play around, search for dynamic poses, and experiment without any pressure. Sometimes the best ideas come from simply messing around.

✧ SHEEPSTEALER ✧

For me this wild beast is the absolute star of last season!

I can tell I quite liked the show if I look at it on its own and don't compare it to the book.

In Fire & Blood, Sheepstealer is the dragon claimed by Nettles, one of the most interesting dragon-taming stories. But the show chose a different path, changing Nettles' storyline with Rhaena Targaryen and giving her the bond with this untamed, unpredictable dragon and no more pinky cutie pie.

He got dragged into some strange story... poor him:
- I'm chilling with my own routine of eating sheep.
- Some girl comes along to break my balls... in the end, to not let her die, I helped.
- She dragged me into some strange mess... I had no idea what was happening but I felt the urge to burn everything.
- In the end I'm back to my cave to live my life... unfortunately not alone anymore... and now my head is target number one... everywhere 😭...

So I really wanted to draw him full body and ofc in my messy style 😁

✧ DREAMFYRE ✧

My new attempt at drawing Dreamfyre in a fresh look.
I'm obsessed with this design on its own... aggressive, amazing color choices, super interesting to work with, and those hooorns 😍

But when it comes to Dreamfyre as a dragon... I wanted to soften her a bit, in my mind she's not aggressive, I wanna show her more like a kind mother (at least this time)

🖤 a darker palette (still not 100% sold, my opinion this is Tessarion 😑)
🤍 a lighter version (this one stayed in my head more for Dreamfyre)

Last time I shared rough sketches of Silverwing and Vermithor... two moods : Love and Death.

Most of you voted to start with Love, so here we are! 🙌

I've started the love sketches in greyscale and already made some changes, especially to size, lighting, and overall composition.
