FM broadcasting is a simple and reliable way to deliver audio at drive-in movie theaters.

The movie soundtrack is transmitted on a dedicated FM frequency, allowing viewers to listen directly through their car radios without the need for any additional receiving equipment.

The TEKO FM Transmitter Drive-In Package provides everything required to set up the system: an FM transmitter, a wideband dipole antenna, cable, connectors, and adapters.

The coverage area can be adjusted according to the transmitter power, while the number of listeners is unlimited.

In our tutorial, we show how to connect and set up the equipment and demonstrate how the complete system works.

Remote monitoring has become an essential part of modern FM broadcast infrastructure.

With AXON, operators can access and control the transmitter remotely through Web and SNMP, directly from a PC, smartphone, or tablet.

More than 100 operating parameters can be monitored, including forward and reflected power, voltage, current, temperature, modulation levels, and working frequency.

Email and Telegram notifications provide real-time updates on alarms and status changes, while historical data and event logs help engineers identify anomalies and reduce diagnostic time.

Faster diagnostics, better control, greater service continuity.

First start-up is a critical step in every FM transmitter installation.

With AXON, the initial setup is designed to give the operator direct control over the main transmission parameters from the very beginning.

After installation and connection, the transmitter interface allows the technician to configure the operating frequency, manage RF output power and verify the main operating parameters before going ON AIR.

The front-panel display provides immediate access to transmitter status, forward and reflected power, modulation and operating conditions, while the AXON architecture also supports remote supervision for ongoing system management.

A straightforward start-up procedure means faster commissioning and greater control from the first transmission.

Different power levels. The same AXON platform.

The AXON series is designed to cover different FM transmission requirements while maintaining a common technical architecture across the range.

The output power changes according to the application, but the main components and spare parts remain common across AXON models: RF amplifier modules, power supplies, fans, heatsinks, control logic boards and other key elements are shared throughout the series.

The AXON 1200 is a clear example of this approach, delivering 1200 W of adjustable output power within a compact 2U architecture.

Standardizing components across different power configurations simplifies spare-parts management, reduces inventory requirements and makes maintenance more efficient.

A modular approach designed to make power scalability easier to manage throughout the broadcast infrastructure.

SYNAPSE and AXON address different requirements within an FM transmission infrastructure.

SYNAPSE is designed around a compact, low-power architecture. It can operate as a stand-alone transmitter or as an exciter within higher-power transmission systems.

AXON extends this concept across a wider power range, combining compact architecture with the flexibility required for medium-power FM applications.

Both platforms share key principles such as RF efficiency, advanced remote management and integrated protection systems. The main difference lies in how the system can be scaled according to the required transmission power.

From compact installations to more demanding FM sites, the transmitter architecture can therefore evolve with the requirements of the broadcast network.

Not every FM transmission site requires a high-power system, but increasing output power should not mean increasing system complexity.

This month, we are focusing on one of the most established models in the TEKO Broadcast range: AXON.

Developed as the next step beyond the SYNAPSE platform, AXON is a compact medium-power FM transmitter covering output power levels from 30 W up to 5000 W.

Its architecture is designed to combine RF performance, operational efficiency and system integration within a compact platform, making it suitable for different broadcast network configurations and power requirements.

A scalable approach to FM transmission, designed to maintain consistent operating principles as the required power level increases.

The reliability of a broadcast system also depends on components that often go unnoticed.

Surge protection devices play a critical role in safeguarding transmitters, power supplies, and control systems, particularly at transmission sites exposed to lightning and electrical disturbances.

The TEKO TK SRGP has been specifically designed to protect broadcast infrastructures against overvoltage and power surges, helping reduce the risk of equipment failure while preserving service continuity. Available in both single-phase and three-phase configurations, it complies with international surge protection standards.

For infrastructures that operate 24/7, electrical protection is not simply an accessory—it is an essential part of long-term operational reliability.
