information and to learn from each other, using videosHacker ethic is a term for the moral values and philosophy that are standard in the hacker community. The early hacker culture and resulting philosophy originated at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the 1950s and 1960s. The term hacker ethic is attributed to journalist Steven Levy as described in his 1984 book titled Hackers: Heroes of the Computer Revolution. The key points within this ethic are access, freedom of information, and improvement to quality of life. While some tenets of hacker ethic were described in other texts like Computer Lib/Dream Machines (1974) by Ted Nelson, Levy appears to have been the first to document both the philosophy and the founders of the philosophy. Levy explains that MIT housed an early IBM 704 computer inside the Electronic Accounting Machinery (EAM) room in 1959. This room became the staging grounds for early hackers, as MIT students from the Tech Model Railroad Club sneaked inside the EAM room after hours to attempt programming the 30-ton, 9-foot-tall (2.7 m) computer. The MIT group defined a hack as a project undertaken or a product built to fulfill some constructive goal, but also with some wild pleasure taken in mere involvement.[1] The term hack arose from MIT lingo, as the word had long been used to describe college pranks that MIT students would regularly devise. However, Levy's hacker ethic also has often been quoted out of context and misunderstood to refer to hacking as in breaking into computers, and so many sources incorrectly imply that it is describing the ideals of white-hat hackers. However, what Levy is talking about does not necessarily have anything particular to do with computer security, but addresses broader issues. The hacker ethic was described as a "new way of life, with a philosophy, an ethic and a dream". However, the elements of the hacker ethic were not openly debated and discussed; rather they were implicitly accepted and silently agreed upon.[2]
The free software movement was born in the early 1980s from followers of the hacker ethic. Its founder, Richard Stallman, is referred to by Steven Levy as "the last true hacker".[3] Modern hackers who hold true to the hacker ethics—especially the Hands-On Imperative—are usually supporters of free and open source software. This is because free and open source software allows hackers to get access to the source code used to create the software, to allow it to be improved or reused in other projects.

Syrian Electronic Army Exploits Third-party Services to Hack Media, Retail Websites

Several websites of major companies in media and retail were the target of a worldwide hacking operation that is attributed to the Syrian Electronic Army.

Included in the diverse array of websites include The Guardian, Forbes, NHL.com, The Chicago Tribune, and CNBC. The websites of Microsoft, Dell, Ferrari and UNICEF were also targeted by the attack.

Gigya, a third-party company from the United States that assists over 700 companies in connecting with their customers through the capabilities of social media, revealed that the SEA breached its domain registrar.

The security breach allowed the SEA to redirect visitors of the affected websites to a new website that is operated by the hacking group. When users attempted to access certain pages of the affected websites, a message that says "You've been hacked by the Syrian Electronic Army (SEA)" pops up, and then the user is redirected to a logo of the group, which is an eagle with the flag of Syria and Arabic text.

An account on Twitter that is connected to the SEA uploaded a picture that showed it is accessing Gigya's account on GoDaddy, which is the company's domain registrar.

According to Gigya, the breach of their GoDaddy account has already been fixed.

Patrick Salyer, the CEO of Gigya, assures its clients that the attack by SEA did not cause any user data to be compromised.

"To be absolutely clear: neither Gigya's platform itself nor any user, administrator or operational data has been compromised and was never at risk of being compromised," Salyer said.

The SEA has claimed that they are behind several high-profile hacking attacks that have occurred within recent years. Back in January, the group said that it was able to temporarily compromise the account on Twitter of U.S. President Barack Obama. The SEA has also claimed to have successfully hacked PayPal, eBay and CNN.

The hacking group supports Bashar al-Assad, the president of Syria. Between the years of 2011 and 2013, the SEA targeted organizations that it thought were hostile to Syria.

A few such hacks carried out by the SEA created a lot of impact. One such attack, which hacked the account of the Associated Press on Twitter, briefly convinced the world that there was a bombing at the White House.

Most of the SEA's recent attacks, including this one, however, pale in comparison compared to the potential damage that can be caused by other hacking groups.

"It is PR move to show they have the skills, but what they are doing is not dramatically sophisticated," said Kroll managing director of cybercrime Ernest Hilbert.

Some Facts about Facebook Hacking.
*****************************************

There are hundreds of scam websites that claim to be the experts in Facebook password hacking and are ready to hack any account for Money. Many people fall prey to these websites and lose their hard-earned money. Never trust any Website that provides Facebook hacking service.

I have already revealed in my workshop many times that, There is no ready-made Facebook hacking software that is available to hack Facebook password. These are completely fake softwares. Please Stay away from such website that claim to hack Facebook account using victims profile ID.

When Facebook rolled out its new email (messaging) service, some smart hackers registered cool email addresses like [email protected], [email protected], etc. and now they are using these accounts to trick facebook users.

This is commonly used social engineering skill in an attempt to know someones password. You will often see such fake articles about Facebook hacking. They usually tell you something like this: “you need to send an email to [email protected] along with your username, password and your victims username or profile id”. Never indulge in such scams.
