A Moment to Reflect
“The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away.” – Pablo Picasso
Today, a simple photograph with a group of underprivileged children after my session stirred something deep within me. Our own children, cocooned in privilege, often magnify their struggles, burdened by problems that feel immense. Yet here, in the eyes of these little souls—children of laborers who come not for academics, but for a warm meal and a place to belong—I witnessed an unshaken spirit.
Their smiles, untouched by the weight of their reality, radiate a joy so pure, a gratitude so effortless. They find happiness in the smallest of gestures, in the mere presence of someone who cares. And in that moment, I couldn’t help but wonder:
“Isn’t it our duty to be the hands that lift them, the voices that encourage them, the light that guides them toward a future where education isn’t a dream but a right?”
Nelson Mandela once said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” If we, who have been given so much, do not extend our hands to those who have so little, then what is the true measure of our privilege?
Perhaps, the greatest gift we can offer is not just charity, but the empowerment to rise, to learn, and to dream beyond their circumstances. Because in lifting others, we truly uplift ourselves.
