Phablet:
A phrase used to describe a half-smartphone and half-tablet mobile device (a phone/tablet hybrid). A phablet is a small pocket-sized mobile device that is a bit larger than the size of an average smartphone, with a touch screen ranging in size from 5 inches (e.g. the Sony Xperia Z) to 6.1 inches (e.g. the Huawei Ascend Mate device).

While larger than a smartphone, the phablet is much smaller than most tablets and can be held and used in one hand. Phablets typically use 3G or 4G networks for cellular calls and are Wi-Fi-enabled devices.

Touch Screen:
A type of electronic display that senses physical touch by a person’s hands or fingers, or by a device such as a stylus, and then performs actions based on the location of the touch as well as the number of touches. A touchscreen display is useful for interacting directly with a computer or electronic device, partially or even completely eliminating the need for intermediate input devices such as computer mice, trackpads or keyboards.

Touchscreen, or touch screen, support by mobile operating systems like Apple’s iOS have made touchscreens pervasive on smartphones and tablet devices, and they’re also becoming more popular on laptops and even desktop computers. Microsoft Windows 7 employs Windows Touch, and Windows 8 is expected to be designed from the ground up with touchscreens in mind. Apple’s Mac OS X has offered touchscreen support for quite some time, and the new Mac OS X Lion release provides enhanced support for multi-touch gestures and animations.

Applet:
A program designed to be executed from within another application. Unlike an application, applets cannot be executed directly from the operating system. With the growing popularity of OLE (object linking and embedding), applets are becoming more prevalent. A well-designed applet can be invoked from many different applications.
Web browsers, which are often equipped with Java virtual machines, can interpret applets from Web servers. Because applets are small in files size, cross-platform compatible, and highly secure (can't be used to access users' hard drives), they are ideal for small Internet applications accessible from a browser.

Indigo:

Indigo, part of Microsoft's Windows operating system code-named Longhorn, unifies a variety of Microsoft technologies (COM+, MSMQ, ASP.NET Web services [ASMX], Remoting) and transports (HTTP, TCP, UDP, IPC) to create a single framework and runtime environment for building distributed systems.

Indigo is suited for building Service Oriented (SO) systems. Service Orientation helps architects and developers design and build connected systems. Service Orientation complements Object Orientation and helps express services in a platform and implementation independent manner.

Services are programs that are communicated with via message exchange. Services are autonomous, which means they exist and run on their own. Functionality exposed by these services are described using standards-based schema and contracts. Many applications can call a service, and the service won't crash if one of the consuming applications breaks. A system is a collection of deployed services cooperating in a given task. Systems are built to adapt to change.

Indigo is implemented in .NET; therefore, services are created with any CLR-compliant language. Indigo services are exposed on the wire via standards based technologies (such as XML, XSD, SOAP, WSDL, and other Web services specifications).

Indigo services are bound to the network through one or more channels attached to a port. Each channel is built dynamically at connection time to support the communications requirements negotiated between caller and service. This way, an Indigo service can talk to both a local Indigo service via IPC and a remote client app via HTTP at the same time.

Earlier .NET Framework distributed technologies such as ASP.NET Web services, Enterprise Services, .NET Remoting, COM+/MSMQ can be used from within Indigo applications. Indigo can also interoperate on the wire with ASP.NET Web services, Enterprise Services, COM+/MSMQ, and any applications built on infrastructure that conforms to Web services standards.

Microsoft will provide mechanisms for migrating applications that use most existing frameworks to services.

Microsoft asserts that Indigo will also be instrumental in facilitating true peer-to-peer communication, where PC users can "exchange data, share resources, locate other users, communicate, and collaborate directly in real time" without the need for Internet servers.
