Facebook is said to be working on a mobile news app that lets publishers send mobile alerts just the way does.

The purported mobile app will allow users to choose which partnering publications they want to follow on the app and also select topics or stations and substations for which they want to receive alerts for.

Publishers can create mobile notifications that will be sent to all followers as instantly as a tweet is sent, a Business Insider report notes.

Similar to Twitter’s character limit; the one in Facebook’s app will allow publishers to send alerts containing up to 100 characters of text and a URL to the news article on the publication’s main website.

Also, one publication can’t create a notification for another.

Cheerleaders targetted with missiles by Ranchi crowd

While many have been raving about the good response to the Indian Premier League with many matches playing host to full stadiums, controversy reared up in . as the spectators at the were engaged in a deplorable act as they hurled water pouches at the cheerleaders towards the end of the game.

The cheerleaders were preparing to get on stage as MS Dhoni, who is from Ranchi, smashed the winning runs to give a narrow victory over when they were targetted by the crowd, forcing them to take cover. The fans did not relent from throwing the pouches even after a second batch of appeared urging the crowd to show restraint.

What provoked the crowd to target the cheerleaders is yet to be ascertained, but the act will surely be deemed unacceptable and security is sure to be beefed up.

It was the first such incident at the JSCA stadium since it hosted the first ODI between India and in 2012 and several matches.

Apple Set to Launch 8GB iPhone 5c in India...

The 8GB variant was officially unveiled back in March, and was initially available in UK, France, Germany, Australia, and China. Recently, the company launched it in additional countries, including Netherlands, Italy, Belgium, Sweden, Poland, Czech Republic, Ireland, Portugal, Austria, Spain, Denmark, Finland, Switzerland, and Norway.

Now, is set to add to this list, with amongst the countries that is slated to get the cheapest current-generation iPhone.

The 5c was launched in India carrying a price tag of Rs. 41,900 for the 16GB model. 8GB variant is cheaper than the 16GB by EUR 50 (Rs. 4,100 approximately), so a sub-Rs. 35,000 price tag for the 8GB iPhone 5c is likely.

Ford India resumes bookings for EcoSport

Ford India has resumed bookings for all variants of its popular compact sports utility vehicle EcoSport.

The company had stopped taking bookings for the vehicle, which was launched in June, in the wake of heavy demand.

"With 50,000 EcoSports delivered, we have significantly reduced the waiting period and are pleased to extend the opportunity to book the EcoSport to more customers," Ford India Executive Director of Marketing Sales and Service Vinay Piparsania said today in a statement.

Airtel, Idea & Vodafone India resume 3G intra-circle roaming services

Where has 3G services resumed

has resumed services in eight circles - , , , , & , , and (East) from yesterday. The service is currently available for prepaid customers in these circles through various 3G roaming packs. It is expected to be rolled out shortly for postpaid customers shortly. Airtel had earlier won 3G spectrum in 13 circles.

Cellular has resumed 3G services in 10 circles - , , , , & , , , and , which apparently accounts for 25% of its 137 million connection base. The service will be available for both prepaid and postpaid Idea customers. The 3G roaming packs are priced in the range of Rs 7 to Rs 1499, however this might differ from circle to circle. Idea Cellular has 3G spectrum in 12 circles, including Delhi where the telco had acquired 5 MHz of spectrum in the February 2014 spectrum auctions. It has however rolled out 3G services in 10 circles with plans to roll it out to and Delhi this financial year.

India has resumed 3G services in 11 circles – Madhya Pradesh & , Karnataka, , Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, , Jammu & Kashmir, (West), Bihar, Assam and North East, as per an ET report. The service will be available for both prepaid and postpaid Vodafone India . The telco has 3G spectrum in nine circles.

The only remaining circle is Orissa where none of the three telcos have 3G spectrum. We wonder whether these telcos are looking to ink similar partnerships with or Reliance Communications which has 3G spectrum in that circle.
