Om Raut took a significant risk when he decided to make a movie on Ramayana. However, I personally feel that he may have underestimated the magnitude of this undertaking. The negative feedback received during the trailer launch in 2022 was a clear indication of the challenges he would face.
Ramanand Sagar Ji's portrayal of Ramayana left an indelible mark on the minds of Ramayan Bhakts. He successfully depicted the essence of Lord Ram's character, appearance, behavior, and the boundaries of his personality. Each character was meticulously chosen, with the late Dara Singh Ji leaving an unforgettable impression as Hanuman Maharaj.
In Adipurush, casting has become a major issue, among other concerns. It is impossible to encompass the entirety of Ramayana within the confines of a single movie, so the selection of which parts to include becomes crucial which will come out after first show.
The visual effects and CGI used in the film are disappointing. The computer-generated backgrounds, replicated vanars (monkeys), and the depiction of rakshasas lack coherence and authenticity, resembling characters from video games rather than the sacred text.
I am particularly disappointed with the portrayal of Hanumanji's Gadda (mace). The grand weapon of this mighty deity lacks character, with a thin handle and a round ball that lacks the ancient markings or motifs it should possess.
Overall, I believe this was a missed opportunity for Om Raut, and the movie fails to live up to its potential.
