The best ways to upgrade a Laptop :
1. Buy at least a 240 GB SSD (Any brand) (2500-3000) and move the HDD to Caddy replacing the DVD drive.
Buying an SSD is the best upgrade possible. It is advised to avoid the 120 GB SSD as they get filled up soon.
2. Buy a 4 GB RAM (1500-2000). If planning to run Windows 10 bump up the total amount of RAM to 8 GB.
Most of the old laptops come with 2 RAM slots, slide in the new one and observe a noticeable boost in multitasking.
3. Thoroughly clean laptop for dust and apply Thermal Paste on CPU.
Though it seems pretty useless, heat dissipation is essential in bringing down CPU temperature particularly for an old laptop.
4. Format and fresh install the latest Windows 10 version.
With Microsoft terminating support for Windows 7 it is always better to stay on a par with the rest of the world.
5. Update latest drivers using any Driver Updater Tools (Driver Booster or Driver Easy) and also Windows Updates. If possible get a good total security package (recommended Kaspersky)
