Guru Tegh Bahadur was the ninth Sikh Guru and served as the spiritual leader of the Sikh community from 1665 until his martyrdom in 1675. He was born in Amritsar, India in 1621, and was the youngest son of Guru Hargobind, the sixth Sikh Guru.
Guru Tegh Bahadur is known for his teachings of religious tolerance and freedom of faith, and he is recognized as a champion of human rights. He preached the importance of selfless service and devotion to God, and encouraged his followers to live a life of virtue and righteousness.
In 1675, Guru Tegh Bahadur was executed by the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb for refusing to convert to Islam. His martyrdom is celebrated by Sikhs as the Shaheedi Divas, which is observed on December 26th.
