Controlling drone with Neuroscience.

First we connected NPG Lite and tello drone wirelessly. When we focus our Beta waves rises which we recorder through NPG Lite and sends the signal to drone to take off.

Similarly we recorder other signals like double and triple eye blinks, hand gestures to control the drone completely.

What you want to control with NPG Lite?

We built an EEG-powered Tug of War game where concentration controls the outcome in real time.

No controllers.
No buttons.
Just neural signals.

This is what accessible Brain-Computer Interface technology can look like.

What if the biggest roadblock in modern neuroscience is how we think about the brain? 🧠 🤔

For decades, the tech world and science labs have treated the human brain like a biological computer. But here’s the truth: real brains aren't engineered in a cleanroom. They are raw, dynamic biology. In his latest work, The Brain, In Theory, neuroscientist Romain Brette challenges the field to drop the vague engineering metaphors that fail to capture real animal cognition and behavior.

At Upside Down Labs, this hits home. We build the hardware to bridge the gap between biology and electronics, but we never forget that the nervous system is alive, not just a collection of silicon circuits. To truly understand the mind, we have to look at it through the lens of living biology, not just processing specs.

Let's look beyond the computer metaphors. What do you think—is the brain the ultimate processor, or something completely different? 👇

Our brain produces different frequencies of brain waves; for example, when we focus, our brain produces more beta waves. Which we recorded through the NPG Lite device.

We made everything open-source, so students can learn HCI and BCI technology at home using our DIY Neuroscience kits.

Day 2 of makers learning Neuroscience with DIY Neuroscience Kits. 🧠⚡

Kids can dive into the world of making and explore neuroscience the most fun way possible with the NPG Lite - Beast Pack!

You don't need a research lab or an expensive setup to explore neuroscience. We're showing you how easy it is to capture clean BioPotential signals right from your own desk with our open-source DIY tech.

A couple of electrodes, a clean board, and boom, your muscle movements become instant hardware inputs. It’s the ultimate bridge between biology and electronics!

If you had this setup on your workbench, what's the first thing you'd try to control? Let us know below! 👇

Let's test your knowledge before you look at the post for the answer!

The Challenge: Your cerebellum takes up only 10% of your brain's physical space. What percentage of your brain’s actual processing units (neurons) are crammed inside it?

A) 15% (A reasonable guess)
B) 30% (The safe choice)
C) 50% (Perfectly balanced)
D) Over 75% (The absolute overkill option)

(Spoiler alert: It’s basically the high-performance dedicated GPU of the human body, running real-time physics calculations for every movement you make!)

Day 1 of makers learning Neuroscience with DIY Neuroscience Kits. 🧠⚡

You don't need a million-dollar university lab or a PhD to start exploring how the human brain and body communicate. You just need some cool open-source hardware, a few jumper wires, and a little curiosity!

Today, we’re cracking open the DIY Neuroscience Kit to show you exactly how easy it is to bridge the gap between biology and hardware engineering. We're talking plug-and-play bio-sensing tech designed for creators, hackers, and students who want to build the future from their own desk.

What would you build first if you could control electronics with your muscles? Let us know in the comments! 👇
