Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Gem Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of gemstones, exceptional attention to detail, and a passion for the jewelry industry. This role requires expertise in gem identification, grading, appraisal, and an ability to assist customers in selecting high-quality gems.
Key Responsibilities:
• Gem Identification and Grading:
• Analyze and grade gemstones using specialized equipment and industry standards.
• Verify authenticity, clarity, color, cut, and carat weight of gemstones.
• Appraisal and Valuation:
• Conduct accurate appraisals and valuations of gemstones and jewelry pieces.
• Prepare detailed appraisal reports for customers, retailers, or insurance purposes.
• Customer Engagement:
• Educate and guide clients in selecting gemstones that meet their preferences and budget.
• Provide exceptional customer service and build lasting client relationships.
• Inventory Management:
• Manage gemstone inventory, ensuring proper documentation, handling, and security.
• Source and procure high-quality gemstones from trusted suppliers.
• Industry Knowledge:
• Stay up-to-date with market trends, new gem discoveries, and industry innovations.
• Maintain awareness of ethical sourcing and sustainability practices in the gem trade.
Requirements:
• Education:
• A degree in Gemology or related certification.
• Experience:
• 3-5 years of experience in gem identification, grading, or jewelry appraisal.
• Skills:
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Proficiency in using gemological tools such as microscopes, spectroscopes, and refractometers.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of gem sourcing, pricing, and global gem markets.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Familiarity with jewelry design and manufacturing processes.
• Sales or retail experience in the gemstone or luxury goods sector.
