After 7 years of building EdTech partnerships, here's what I've learned about trust between universities and tech companies:
Trust isn't built through PowerPoint presentations. It's earned through consistent delivery on small promises.
When we launched universities had 3 major concerns:
โข Data privacy risks
โข Uncontrolled upselling to students
โข Lack of measurable outcomes
Here's what actually worked in building lasting partnerships:
1. Start Small, Deliver Big
Let universities test your solution with a small student group first. When they see real results, trust grows naturally. For VisaMonk, once universities saw measurable improvements in student visa preparedness, they were ready to explore additional solutions.
2. Involve Partners Early
We invited university counsellors to beta test VisaMonk. Their feedback shaped the platform - now they're our most prominent advocates.
3. Show, Don't Tell
Skip the fancy presentations. Share real student success metrics, testimonials, and concrete impact data.
4. Transparent Processes
Document everything - from data handling to student communication. No surprises = lasting trust.
5. **Solve Real Problems**
Focus on addressing actual pain points, not pushing features. Once VisaMonk delivered on its promise, universities were eager to try our LOAN-AI tool to address last-minute financing dropouts, as they trusted our ability to meet expectations.
The secret?
Partnership isn't about signing agreements. It's about solving problems together.
At ForeignAdmits and we're building trust through transparency, measurable outcomes, and genuine collaboration.
What's your experience with EdTech partnerships? What builds or breaks trust in your view?
