Be honest, how many workshops have you attended where you sat there, nodded along and lost the notebook with all the notes you took during it? 😁

That's why I love when someone TAKES ACTION!

And I was absolutely thrilled when I got a voice note from one attendee who absolutely SMASHED it!

She got TWO new clients who booked in with her weekly between now and Christmas 🎄

Well if that's not amazing feedback on a workshop I don't know what is 😭 💜.

I am NOT a good public speaker.
I go off on tangents, forget my words ...

It's horrible.

And if I am upset it's even worse because I can't hear what people are saying to me because I am utterly dysregulated.

So if I run a workshop it's because my why is bigger than my fear! Thanks Noleen Sliney | Video Marketing Strategist for helping me to put words on that.

But today I had a MASSIVE why: I wanted to help small business owners realise that you can get business through your website if you think about the words and the journey you are bringing your clients on.

Google and AI are SO CLEVER now. If you have the right words on your website, they will absolutely pick them up.

It doesn't have to be a huge overwhelming thing.

Even just add an FAQ. Like Tesco says, every little helps!

... and I genuinely think that's somewhat related to why SEO suits me better than social media marketing (and why it might be a good option for YOU too)...

People often mistakenly think that it's either or when it comes to SEO.

They gleefully picture themselves making approximately 89 bajillion euros/pounds while raking in "passive income"....

That's NOT what I am talking about here!

But if you are someone who can be a bit sporadic about your own marketing because you are knee deep in doing the thing you actually get paid for...

Then I think it is pretty sensible to have a way of reaching the people you want to work with, without YOU having to remember!

For a lot of people that means optimising your website ONCE and then gradually (and possibly sporadically 😉) creating content that leads to your paid services or products.

Then when you inevitably fall down the busy rabbit hole your website can still work for you!

Case in point - last weekend someone found a blog that I wrote in 2022 and asked me a question about how it applied to THEIR business.

I of course had partly forgotten having ever written such a post 😂.

But I wrote back a personalised reply (took me all of two minutes!)...and they booked in with me.

I have an allergy to sales-y selling or putting pressure on people, so all of this is right up my street 💜.

People mistakenly think that SEO (getting enquiries and clients) is about keywords or installing a plugin on your website and calling it a day...

And those same people are not silly people.

They are often highly qualified, highly experienced, brilliant at what they do...but websites just aren't their thing.

As well as that, it can all sound like a bit of a dark art 😭.

But luckily for you, I cheerfully admit that I love a good website snoop AND I have a knack for spotting opportunities for you 😉

(I know my limits and the 28 bajillion things I do NOT excel at - my confidence is very specific to this I'm afraid 😂).

A lot of people often ask me how getting found and recommended in AI tools like ChatGPT works, and the follow up question is...do I have to do something than what is needed to get found on Google?

And the answer is "jein" - yes and no.

This client site was built last year and it was optimised mainly to get found on Google, but with an eye to getting found and recommended in ChatGPT etc.

As you can see, the business is getting recommended in ChatGPT, Google AI overviews, Gemini, Perplexity and CoPilot

AND it's also consistently surfaced on Page 1 of Google for multiple searches.

It had over 2k visitors in September (I haven't told the client about her AI wins yet, seeing as it's Saturday...I wonder if she will spot this post before I message her on Monday 😂?!)

Anyway she is getting found for multiple tyes of searches :

People who want information
People who know her business name and are searching for her company specifically AND
People who want to PAY her...

And I am running a free workshop ONCE on the 19th of October spilling the beans on what worked (24 hour replay), and then I am NOT teaching this again for free 😉

Client question I was answering - "Do you need to redesign your whole website to get more clients from it?"

Me: Let's look at what you actually have on there before we get rid of what you have.

Sometimes it’s one small thing you’ve never really thought about- like realising you have a bloody meadow on your homepage when perhaps people would quite like to see you. 😂

I know lots of people think their websites need to be absolutely perfect before it can bring you clients and business.

In fact that's NOT the case. But it does need to help the people you work with feel a connection with you and your business.
