Good news, Google sudah mengeluarkan Android Support Library versi terbaru 22.1 yang kini memberi support terhadap tinting ke hampir semua widget dari Android API7+. Selain itu ActionBarActivity juga kini berubah menjadi AppCompatActivity.

Sharing another book review.
Yap, saya baru saja beres membaca buku "REMOTE: Office Not Required", nothing so special about this book, tapi masih bagus untuk dibaca terutama untuk orang-orang maupun perusahaan yang mau menerapkan Remote Working.

Get to the point, berikut materi-materi bagus yang ada di buku ini menurut saya:

- WHY WORK DOESN'T HAPPEN AT WORK
Meaningful work, creative work, thoughtful work, important work -- this type of effort takes stretches of uninterrupted time to get into the zone. But in the modern office such long stretches just can't be found. Instead, it's just one interruption after another.

- YOU'RE PROBABLY ALREADY DOING REMOTE WORKING
Why do companies have no problem working with (an outsourcing company such as) a lawyer who works in the next town over and yet distrust their own employees to work anywhere other than their own desks? It just doesn't make sense.

- ON WRITING WELL
Being a good writer is an essential part of being a good remote worker.

- BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR OVERWORK, NOT UNDERWORK
Working at home and living there means there's less delineation between the two parts of your life. It's everyone's jobs to be on the lookout for coworkers who are overworking themselves, but ultimately the responsibility lies with the managers and business owners to set the tone.

Selama ini kami menggunakan library Picasso (https://github.com/square/picasso) sebagai ImageLoader di aplikasi-aplikasi Android yang kami buat. Yak akhir-akhir ini banyak yang share ternyata ada library yang lebih bagus dan direkomendasikan oleh Google, yaitu Glide

Kami belum coba namun katanya ini lebih cepat dan hemat memori dibanding Picasso. Namun ada beberapa kekurangan juga seperti method yang lebih banyak dan ukuran library yang agak lebih besar.

Saya baru aja beres baca buku REWORK. Buku ini recommended banget buat yang lagi mulai bisnis, already-in-business, atau bahkan masih kerja namun mau bangun bisnis sampingan sendiri.

Sharing aja beberapa poin bagus yang "jleb" dari buku ini:

- PLANNING IS GUESSING
Unless you're a fortune-teller, long-term business planning is a fantasy.... Working without a plan may seem scary. But blindly following a plan that has no relationship with reality is even scarier.

- WORKAHOLISM
Working more doesn't mean you care more or get more done. It just means you work more. Workaholics wind up creating more problems than they solve. First off, working like that just isn't sustainable over time. When the burnout crash come, and it will, it'll hit that much harder

- MEETINGS ARE TOXIC

- FOUR-LETTER WORDS
There are four-letter words you should never use in business. They're not f*ck or sh*t. They're "need", "must", "can't", "easy", "just", "only", and "fast". When you use these four-letter words, you create a black-and-white situation. But the truth is rarely black and white. So people get upset and problems ensue.

- START A BUSINESS, NOT A STARTUP
The start up is a magical place. It's a place where expenses are someone else's problem. It's a place where you can spend other people's money until you figure out a way to make your own. The problem with this magical place is it's a fairy tale. The truth is every business, new or old, is governed by the same set of market forces and economic rules. Startups try to ignore this reality.... Don't use the idea of a startup as a crutch. Instead, start an actual business. Actual businesses have to deal with actual things like bills and payroll. Actual businesses worry about profit from day one.
