THE PENTECOST DAY (WAITING UP ON THE PROMISE)
Let me define the word Pentecost day (count fifty day or fiftieth day) we shall see it deeply in the following chapters.
Brethren it’s very important to know times and seasons and what ought to be done in it or to assign time to purpose through Gods perception (1 Chron 12:32 men of Issachar, who understood the times and knew what Israel should do) in order to do Gods perfect will and also not to miss his long-awaited visitation.
Through studying the word of God, we learn the following as written in Dan 9:2-3 in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, understood from the Scriptures, according to the word of the Lord given to Jeremiah the prophet, that the desolation of Jerusalem would last seventy years. 3 So I turned to the Lord God and pleaded with him in prayer and petition, in fasting, and in sackcloth and ashes.
Here is a question to the body of Christ in time such as this what does the lord requires us to do?
When I was in intensive fasting and prayer while pondering on all what the lord did to Israelites in exodus and to apostle during Passover and praying to the lord that it may be done to all of us especially me. The spirit of God lead me to study about the season after pass over and its spiritual implication, when I search about it in scriptures I discovered that it must be a season of waiting upon the Holy Spirit and the holy spirit told me that even the people of old testament time experienced it in the following scriptures.
The Pentecost day in old testament
> Deut 16:9-12 Count off seven weeks from the time you begin to put the sickle to the standing grain. 10 Then celebrate the Feast of Weeks to the Lord your God by giving a freewill offering in proportion to the blessings the Lord your God has given you. 11 And rejoice before the Lord your God at the place he will choose as a dwelling for his Name — you, your sons and daughters, your menservants and maidservants, the Levites in your towns, and the aliens, the fatherless and the widows living among you. 12 Remember that you were slaves in Egypt, and follow carefully these decrees.
> Ex 34:22 "Celebrate the Feast of Weeks with the first fruits of the wheat harvest, and the Feast of Ingathering at the turn of the year.
> Lev 23:15-16 15 "'From the day after the Sabbath, the day you brought the sheaf of the wave offering, count off seven full weeks. 16 Count off fifty days up to the day after the seventh Sabbath, and then present an offering of new grain to the Lord.
From the about old testament scriptures we learnt that indirectly they kept the Pentecost day and since our God is the lord of times and season, on the very day in the new testament he visited the apostle in the upper room.
THE LORD PROMISING THE APOSTLES
> Luke 24:46-49 Then He said to them, "Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, 47 and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48 And you are witnesses of these things. 49 Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high."
> Luke 24:53 and were continually in the temple praising and blessing God. Amen.
> 1 Cor 16:8 But I will tarry in Ephesus until Pentecost
Brethren from the above scriptures the lord is structing the church to be waiting for the promise, the Holy Spirt and it will be more effective and powerful to those who will go into a seclusion, solitary or confined place in fasting, praying and reading the word of God.
THE APOSTLES RECEIVES THE HOLY SPIRIT.
> Acts 2:1-4 When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. 2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.
From the above scripture, we learn that the Holy Spirit came to them on a specific day may be time and place and they were all in one place (spirit) our lord Jesus is instructing the church to gather together and always fellow ship together while waiting the promise.
WHAT HAPPENED AFTER THE ENCOUNTER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT?
1. People were convicted of their sins and genuinely repented (john 16:8, act 2 37-38)
2. Miracles, sign and wonders were performed after the Pentecost encounter may it be to all who will wait up on him in these days in your ministry (acts 3:1-10, 4:32-37, 2:42-33)
3. The cowards became bold as lion even any kind of affliction, percussion and intimidation couldn’t stop them to preach the gospel, may it be unto you and all your flocks (acts 4:31).
4. Multiplication followed them, have you been with few flock in your church or limited area of influence during this Pentecost encounter the lord is going to multiply you (acts 2:47)
5. True and un hypocritical love was released in them, oneness in spirit. Have been having recurring, misunderstanding, unforgiving, and stinginess in your ministry in the mighty name of the lord its going through the Pentecost encounter. (acts 2:44, 4:32-55)
6. Pentecost encounter released great and magnificent work of the lord that also caused the devil to increase his attacks and those attacks continued to cause God to do greater works in them from the above after encountering Pentecost the same will happen to us.
7. Difficult, stubborn and rebellious people will turn to the lord and they will be mightily used by God. (act 9)
8. There will be miraculous escape or deliverance from all kinds of prison and captivity (acts 12)
9. People will bear the fruits of holy spirit.
10. Spiritual dryness will come to an end in your life and ministry.
11. All kinds of gifts will be released on us especially the gift of prophecy, the lack of it has caused the shrines of false prophets to flourish rampantly.
12. Many other works of the holy spirit are coming.
DO THE FOLLOWING DURING THIS PERIOD WHICH WILL END UP ON
> Be in spirit of fasting as the spirit will lead you because the holy spirit resides or abides in crucified and broken vessels.
> If possible, cut off some activities and spend that time with the lord.
> Look for many songs about the holy spirit listen and sing them always.
> Look for and read, study and memorize scriptures about the Holy spirit
> Do intensive prayers because they bring down the holy spirit.
> Read books about the holy spirit.
> Cry, yearn and call un the holy spirit jealously.
MORE ABOUT THE DEFINITION OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
Pentecost. An annual commemoration of the descent of the Holy Spirit. The word Pentecost is derived from the Greek name for the festival, literally meaning "fifty days"—the time between the feast of Passover and the celebration of the wheat harvest. The New Testament states that the Holy Spirit came on the disciples of Jesus on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2:1-4), sometime after Jesus had ascended into heaven (Acts 1:1-11). In the early centuries of the church, the celebration of Pentecost was not the celebration of the fiftieth day but the fifty days following the Pasch or Easter.

Pentecost i.e., "fiftieth", found only in the New Testament (Acts 2:1; 20:16; 1 Cor 16:8). The festival so named is first spoken of in Ex 23:16 as "the feast of harvest," and again in Ex 34:22 as "the day of the firstfruits" (Num 28:26). From the sixteenth of the month of Nisan (the second day of the Passover), seven complete weeks, i.e., forty-nine days, were to be reckoned, and this feast was held on the fiftieth day. The manner in which it was to be kept is described in Lev 23:15-19; Num 28:27-29. Besides the sacrifices prescribed for the occasion, everyone was to bring to the Lord his "tribute of a free-will offering" (Deut 16:9-11). The purpose of this feast was to commemorate the completion of the grain harvest. Its distinguishing feature was the offering of "two leavened loaves" made from the new corn of the completed harvest, which, with two lambs, were waved before the Lord as a thank offering.
The day of Pentecost is noted in the Christian Church as the day on which the Spirit descended upon the apostles, and on which, under Peter's preaching, so many thousands were converted in Jerusalem (Acts 2).
