Sometimes the best projects start with a joke. In his "Are Manchester City F**d"* video, Alfie Potts Harmer warned viewers at around the 40-minute mark: "Not, I repeat not, buymechinesetakeaweay.com - you cannot support the channel there and it will not redirect you." Well, now it does.
I handled the full lifecycle, end to end: securing both domains, setting up a dedicated domain-based user on my EU/EEA, GDPR-compliant VPS, and deploying clean Nginx vhosts. The redirect itself is deliberately boring - proper HTTP status codes, no tracking, no bloat, straight through to the official Buy Me a Coffee page.
The fun part? When Alfie mentioned the project on air but mispronounced the domain, I registered the typo variant (buymechinesetakeaway.com), configured DNS, and shipped a new vhost in under ten minutes to catch the live traffic. Both domains now sit as equal twins - permanently out of reach of typosquatters.
Everything was vibe coded and validated on a VM before it ever touched production: AI-assisted builds, a hand-picked set of genuine quotes from his videos, and the main copy written with Lumo 2.0 Max. No shortcuts, no affiliate hijinks, just good-faith redirection.
Best of all - creator approved. Alfie found the site on X, replied with genuine enthusiasm, then dedicated an on-air segment to it, describing how "Croatian subscriber Marco" pulled it off. Collaboration over exploitation.
