Recently in a discussion, i was asked if studying all those subjects as student in school, college and university was a waste of time. I answered Not at all! yes, I do not use biology in my day to day life, neither I have much use for calculus, differentiation and integration. But to me the purpose was of those lessons was not make me teach a specific thing. Rather it was to make me interested in learning, to make realize that the there are many things in life to learn. I came across another article today and picked up these lines from it. "Education should have one overarching goal: To teach and train students how to solve problems. How to search for the questions to ask to solve these problems. How to learn to decompose complex problems into smaller, simpler ones. How to embrace failure as a necessary part of learning."
