This month, gemstones that warm the coldness and shine bright as a sunlight are Topaz and Citrine which both mainly have yellow shade hue. Today’s main topic is Topaz. Topaz comes in yellow, pink, purple, orange, and many popular blue tones. Its hardness scale is 8. It is reputed to enhance wisdom, creativity, bring relaxation, control angry passions, restore energy, and aid in tissue regeneration. It was a habit to offer topaz as gifts to heads of states, diplomats, and royalty.

“In the Pink”, the diamond collection that celebrates Sotheby’s ten years of exceptional diamond jewelry, showed up in Hong Kong last month. That might be because pink is one of the popular colors this season for many firms in the jewelry industry.
Pink is frequently present in fashion and its various tones are often spotted on catwalks in one shade or another. The highlights of the Autumn/Winter 2015 trends include some of pink’s slightly muted shades since the last few seasons have focused on pastel colors, with a slightly foggy effect rather than anything bright. Cashmere Rose color represents the softness and elegance of a fragrant flower. Its warm pink tone with slightly milky undertones makes it extremely attractive.

The auction will present beautiful jewelries ranging from $5,000 all the way up to that staggering $55 million for The Blue Moon. Gems on display include the superb fancy vivid 8.24 purple-pink diamond ring, 'The Queen Maria-José Ruby Ring', and a magnificent emerald with diamond necklace by Harry Winston, 1959. Keep a lookout for that incredible asking price for The Blue Moon, let’s hope it fetches it!

The rise in man-made diamonds has resulted in a slight downturn for the industry.
Andrey Zharkov, the president of major Russian diamond mining group Alrosa, has warned that the precious gem industry is suffering from a number of reputational risks as a growing number of synthetic or altered diamonds have entered the jewelry market. They are grown in labs and then sold to some retailers as cheaper alternatives to natural diamonds. Plus, synthetic gems are very difficult to distinguish from natural stones. Currently the diamond sector is trying to digest oversupply from 2014. We hope that the up-coming Christmas period will invigorate market liquidity.

Rapper Jay Z never misses an opportunity to indulge his wife with gifts or million-dollar-holidays. The ring which Jay Z used to “steal” a YES from Beyonce is no exception – it cost $5 million and comes from one of the most renowned jewelry artists. More specifically, it’s made from 20 carat white gold and garnished with 18-carat diamonds.

Many people believe that round, brilliant cut diamonds are so beautiful that they exude an irresistible magical quality. This unicorn-shaped inclusion consists of a white feather and some graphitization. Notice how the unicorn’s magical horn is perfectly placed with a white facet reflection above the feather.

The winds of change used to blow jade from China across the Old Silk Road, now China is the destination and the road is the Pacific Ocean. Jade is formed out of the fire that comes from tectonic plates crashing together, and one such place is British Columbia, Canada. The eastern edge of the Ring of Fire (an area of high geological activity that straddles the Pacific) touches up against Canada which is one of the reasons why B.C. is currently the largest producer of nephrite jade in the world.

The flawless color and optical transparency of the oval-shaped 'Ethereal Carolina Divine Paraiba' is what drove this gemstone into the Guinness World Records in 2009. It has been compared to the color of a tropical sea and, at 191.87ct, it is the largest cut Paraiba tourmaline in the world, which is probably why it was set into a one-of-a-kind necklace by Canadian jewellery house Kaufmann de Suisse.
