We are beyond excited to announce the participation of Flare in the EU Digital Identity Wallet project and the release and approval of RFC-010 of the EU Digital Wallet Consortium (EWC), outlining the QTSP-Centric Digital Signing of Documents using the wallet!
This specification defines how Qualified Electronic Signatures (QES) 📝 can be seamlessly created using the wallet 📱, ensuring trust, interoperability, and compliance with EU regulations—unlocking a future of secure, cross-border digital transactions.
A heartfelt thank you to the exceptional partners behind EWC, the contributors who authored and reviewed the RFC—Viky Manaila, Andreas Abraham, Daniele Ribaudo, Nikolaos Triantafyllou, Leone Riello, Jon Ølnes—and our collaborators at Intesi Group for their unwavering support. Your expertise made this achievement possible!
Being part of this transformative initiative has been a true honor, and we’re excited to see the impact it will have on digital identity and document signing across Europe. 🚀

💡 What are EWC RFCs?
RFCs (Request for Comments) are specifications that take an opinionated stand on the standards and protocols that apply for wallet providers, issuers, and verifiers to ensure they are technically compliant and interoperable across various implementations at scale via the Interoperability Test Bed (ITB).
💡 Why do RFCs Matter?
By taking an opinionated stand towards key protocols needed for a successful Large-Scale Pilot (LSP), the EWC RFCs effectively ensure interoperability at scale, enabling digital wallets to function seamlessly across borders and organisations. This collaborative framework keeps wallet providers, issuers, and relying parties aligned with EU Digital Identity standards, paving the way for a more connected and trusted digital future.
