`¶ A Forgotten Memory`

In the shadows of my mind, a memory hides
A mother's love, a childhood's pride
But like a fleeting dream, it vanished in the night
Leaving me with tears, and a heart that's not right
The ache within me grows, a hollowed-out space
A longing for a love that I never got to place
I search for answers, in the eyes of strangers I meet
But none can fill the void, where my mother's love should greet
Yet still I hold on to hope, a beacon in the dark
A chance to find the one, who left a scar
I'll work hard, day and night, to track her down
To find the love we lost, and turn this sorrow around
Through cities and towns, I'll search far and wide
I'll ask every face, if they've seen her inside
I'll follow every lead, no matter how small
Until I find my mother, and hear her call
In the silence of the night, I recall your gentle touch
The soft whispers of your voice, the love that you clutch
You'd hold me close, and sing a lullaby sweet
A melody that echoes still, a memory that can't be beat
Your words of comfort, they still resonate deep
A child's heart, forever kept, in the love that you did reap
I remember the nights, I'd cry out for your name
And you'd be there, with a warm embrace, and a love that's not tamed
As a child, I'd think of you, day and night
My heart would ache, with a longing so bright
I'd wonder why you left, and when you'd return to me
But the memories of your love, they remain, a bittersweet melody
Tears fall, as I recall, the love that we shared
A bond so strong, yet fragile, and unfairly impaired
But even in the pain, I'll hold on to the love
A mother's love, that sent from above
The memories still linger, a bittersweet refrain
A longing for what's lost, a heart that's still in pain
But I console myself, with a resigned heart
It's happened, and it's done, a chapter torn apart
I pray for strength to hold on, to weather the storm
To keep my heart from breaking, to calm the raging form
I ask for help to hold myself, to not do anything rash
To find a way to heal, to mend the tears and the crash
In the silence, I whisper, a plea to the unknown
Grant me the courage to face, the shadows that I've sown
Help me to find my way, through the darkness and the night
And guide me toward the light, where love and peace take flight.
