When Kofi enrolled in the SikaFields programme two years ago, he was not thinking about carbon markets or blockchain or corporate sustainability targets.
He was thinking about his children.
He planted trees because the soil needed it. Because his father had told him that a farm without trees is a farm that is dying. Because he had seen neighbouring plots turn to dust and he was not willing to let that happen to his land.
What he did not expect was to receive a payment for it.
"I did not know the trees could do this," he told our field officer on the day his first carbon credit payout arrived. "I thought I was just farming."
He was. That is exactly the point.
At SikaFields, we believe that the most credible carbon credits in the world are not generated in corporate boardrooms or by financial engineers. They are generated by farmers like Kofi — people whose relationship with the land is generational, whose knowledge is embodied, and whose commitment to restoration is not performative but essential.
Our role is to make that invisible work visible. To measure it, verify it(through MRV - Monitoring, Reporting, Verification), and connect it to a global market that pays for it.
Every credit purchased through SikaFields is a direct payment to a family like Kofi's.
That is what "One credit at a time, the climate is ours" means in practice.
