BT is making a major shift in the way they supply their phone services. They’re saying goodbye to the old-school phone lines (you know, the ones with copper wires) they are closing down their ISDN service and moving everything to something called VOIP. If you currently use ISDN, then you will have to change services….
What’s VOIP? It stands for Voice Over Internet Protocol. Fancy words, but all it means is that your phone calls will now travel over the internet instead of those old phone cables.
Here’s the scoop:
No More Copper Wires: BT is ditching the old copper landlines. By next summer, they’ll switch everyone to a new system called Digital Voice.
Clearer Calls: With Digital Voice, you’ll get crystal-clear calls. No more crackling or fuzzy connections.
Bye, Fraud Calls!: The new system also fights off those annoying spam and fraud calls. Sayonara, scammers!
When’s the Change?: The old phone lines won’t work after 2025. But don’t worry, if you’re already on BT’s super-fast fiber broadband, you’re good to go.
Where’s the Switch Happening?: BT is rolling this out in stages. Some areas are already switched, like Wiltshire and Suffolk. Next up: North West, London, and more! 🌍
