The countdown to a post-quantum world is now a boardroom conversation, a procurement requirement and, increasingly, a regulatory expectation.

National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)’s first post-quantum cryptography standards, finalised in August 2024, marked a pivotal step, but adopting new algorithms alone will not make organisations quantum-ready.

Infosecurity Magazine examines why true crypto-agility must extend across the entire technology stack, not just its perimeter. It also requires sustained investment, rather than a one-time purchase intended to “fix” the quantum threat: http://spkl.io/61847nWNE

Security analysts at Sentinel One have warned that threat actors’ abuse of legitimate enterprise accounts and identity systems has created a “mass-marketed impersonation crisis.”

Deepfakes and generative AI tools are enabling even unsophisticated threat actors to create convincing identities, personalise attacks and develop new approaches to social engineering at scale.

This is making attacks harder for individuals to recognise and significantly more difficult for security teams to defend against.

“The emerging risk that I think organisations are underestimating is the risk of quantum.”

Speaking with Infosecurity Magazine at , Scott Beale, CEO at ISC2, pointed to quantum as one risk organisations may not be planning for early enough.

“We can be so focused on what's happening with AI and the risks that it causes for organisations and companies and not also be planning for when Q Day comes, which will probably be here quicker before people are prepared to deal with it.”

Where does quantum readiness sit on your organisation’s security agenda today?

The cost of a data breach continues to rise, with IBM’s Cost of a Data Breach Report showing the average incident now costs organisations millions.

The longer a breach goes undetected and unresolved, the greater the potential financial impact. "There's always a shortage of people and we need to look outside of the box."

In a conversation with Infosecurity Magazine at Infosecurity Europe 2026, Amanda Finch, CEO at CIISEC, shared why the bigger challenge is rethinking how the industry identifies, develops and attracts talent for the future.

Strengthening the cyber workforce is about widening the talent pool to include people with transferable skills, diverse perspectives and the ability to communicate across increasingly complex organisations, she said.

"We need to bring people in that are working in other industries, particularly communication. People-focused solutions are where we need to go with things, not just pieces of kit, so we need people that can talk to people. So, think outside of the box when you're recruiting."

What skills do you believe will become just as valuable as technical expertise in tomorrow's cybersecurity workforce?

"Probably one of the biggest challenges that CISOs face today is getting through dispelling the myth of the AI-enabled hackers versus this mythos universe, and where to place your chips."

Speaking with Infosecurity Magazine at Infosecurity Europe 2026, RoboShadow's Terry Lewis shared the growing challenge facing security leaders as AI adoption accelerates and exposes vulnerabilities.

"I think what this kind of mythos class of AI tools is really doing for us at the moment is it's really going to show up all of the vulnerabilities."

"I think we're going to have this tsunami of vulnerabilities that we're going to have to update. For CISOs at the moment, navigating the right play, I think that's the tricky bit. It's to get through what is the hype and what is the real world."

How are you separating AI hype from the security risks that need action now?
