The First Few Months of Milk IT — What I’ve Learned So Far

Starting my own business has been everything I expected… and nothing I expected.

The last few months have thrown personal challenges, family health worries, and business hurdles my way — all while navigating the leap from 14+ years of stability and a steady salary to going it alone.

Some days have been incredible.
Some days have tested me like never before.
But every single moment has taught me something — about resilience, about growth, and about what it really takes to build something from the ground up.

Key lessons I’m taking forward:

• Growth usually sits just on the other side of discomfort.

• Tough moments shape you more than the easy ones.

• Leaving stability is scary — staying stuck is scarier.

• Small steps still count as progress.

To all Milk IT clients — thank you. Your trust and continued partnership make all of this possible.

And as I keep moving forward I try to remind myself:

“A dream without a goal is just a dream! And will ultimately fuel disapointment”

We are looking for some help!

We need teachers of all age groups and/or parents of year 5 and 6 students as well as parents of high school students years 7 to 11 who would be willing to fill in a short online survey for my Milk IT.

Milk IT are developing a service offering for schools that delivers interactive and dynamic in person workshops focused on cyber, social media and digital footprint awareness, the risks, the pitfalls and the ways to stay safe. The workshops will include live demonstrations using a secure private network installed for the workshops.

This is about showing first hand the realities of the digital world our children are growing up in. Providing examples that are age appropriate, and interactive activities that allow students to explore scenarios that could put them at risk online.

As well as this, parent workshops will be offered to provide parents with the confidence and knowledge of how they can themselves ensure their children remain safe online. It’s no secret that we ourselves didn’t grow up with the access to technology as our kids do today! And it’s therefore no surprise that a large percentage of parents aren’t confident in their ability to put the readily available safeguards in place.

The ‘Think before you tap’ work shops are designed to change this!

The survey will be sent electronically to participants and all submissions have the ability to be anonymous if preferred.

The results of the survey will be solely used to ensure the content of the workshops is aligned with real world teacher and parent concerns and feedback.

🚀 Week One: DONE! 💻
I can officially say I’ve just wrapped up my first week running my own business — Milk-It 🎉
After leaving my old job to finally follow my passion for IT, this first week has been a mix of excitement, learning, long hours, and serious gratitude. 🙏
Starting Milk-It was a bold move, but it already feels so right. There’s nothing like building something of your own, doing what you love, and helping others through tech.
