Check out the Thorpy FX Kudu drive pedal, of which I had a hand in.... as explained in the video. Really pleased with how it turned out! Just wanted to add that this one is also ideal for filling in the midrange frequencies and/or adding some diallable 'grunt' to a clean Fender amp, such as a Twin Reverb.

Some incredible tones today, and a listen to an undersung classicWelcome to the show! Today we have four more pedals to get into and enjoy. Both amps are on ...

My friend Jack Craig is a pro guitarist and I've been friends with him and his family for some 35 years. When he asked me for a hand a few weeks back to assist with the re-wiring of his Jet (super) Strat guitar to 'the Dan Huff spec' (for ultimate 80's US session shimmer!), I was intrigued as it was something beyond my normal guitar wiring experience. Jack's father Dave is an excellent luthier and pro woodworker (and a former band mate of mine!) so this was an honour to be involved in, plus the reward of food and drink and a pleasant day spent with friends in this wonderful workshop made it one to remember! I enjoyed watching this and Jack's 'before and after' demos at the end show that the results were worth it and I know Jack will put this to good musical use. Worth a watch if you're interested in how a guitar can be transformed and the process involved.

Thanks to Ed Skymall for sending me this image. It's the first 'production prototype' of the Lovetone Meatball that I hand-did the Letraset lettering on way back in 1995. I recall it was a mock-up rather than a working pedal and that it was green, not orange-yellow. But 31 years later and having not seen it since it's hard to be sure. The very first Meatball prototype was in a discarded Sagem printer power supply test box that I rescued from a skip! That one was metallic blue and grey and had the same console shape that led to the distinctive design refined for the original Meatball. Inside it was a total rat's nest! Apparently, this image was from a 'Guitar World' magazine promo photo from circa (pre-May?) 1995. I do remember that they and 'Guitar Player' were among the earliest US reviewers of the original Lovetone products.

I chanced upon this old list that used to be on the original Lovetone website and promotional info of then-current Lovetone customers and users from approximately 25 years ago (please see the non-endorsement disclaimer at the bottom of the image; all rights reserved, etc.). This screenshot is posted purely for interest and you can even see who bought and used what! If you or your band are on this list, I'd like to belatedly thank you (as both an original co-founder and the circuit designer for Lovetone) for your custom and support (I wasn't doing the sales until much later: between circa 2003-7, just before I left the original company in 2008). Seeing this, I'm reminded and re-humbled to see how many great artists used them back in the day and of course there are some less famous musicians who are not listed here, who equally deserve credit for their contribution - so thank you, too. This year sees the relaunch of Lovetone in a new form and you can find out more in due course from visiting the page and website as well as the odd future update on here.

Update: Whilst the 'Cogmeister' and 'Hypoid Drive' will remain in production, I have decided long-term to eventually stop making the '3rd Law' and 'Dan Solo' pedals, so if you are interested in either of those, please order them while you can (i.e. sooner, rather than later) so as to avoid disappointment! Late 1972 Fender (R) Twin Reverb, in for a service, repair and a spruce-up. Nearly done. Very satisfying, sounds great with these Celestion speakers, too. My apologies to those customers still waiting for me to finish repairs from last year - I’m almost there.

I’m taking on repairs at my old rate until the end of March, after which point it goes up to the new rate already advertised on my website.

An excellent review of the Dinosaural (R) 'Hypoid Drive' can be found in the latest 'Guitarist' magazine (February 2026, Issue 533) - plus the pedal received a 'Guitarist Gold' award - for which I am most grateful. Many thanks!
