This week it's been all about Broadband and Connectivity, advising a few clients on the right solution for them.

There are many different options, all appropriate in different circumstances, I would always advise partnering with a good, all of market supplier, who really gets to know your business and can give impartial advice.

For example:

Mobile Broadband

Portable & flexible – Connect to the internet using 4G or 5G wherever there’s mobile coverage, but look out for fair usage policies on the data plans if doing lots of streaming or connecting lots of devices.
Quick to set up – No fixed line or engineer installation required.

I proposed this for a client who was really struggling in an area with no fibre coverage yet, but good 5G coverage (always check which network is best), and needed something up and running for customers in very short timescales.

Business Broadband

Fast & reliable – Ideal for everyday business use, including cloud applications, VoIP (for smaller offices), and everyday usage.
Cost-effective – High-speed connectivity at a lower cost than a dedicated leased line.

Leased Line (there are also options that sit somewhere between Broadband and Leased Line - price wise and in terms of contention ratios - can be a good option for many small businesses)

Dedicated connection – Your business gets its own connection, so speeds aren’t affected by other local users.
Symmetrical speeds – The same fast upload and download speeds, ideal for larger teams, cloud services and heavy data use.
This can have very long lead times.

Still working/looking after the girls from Northumberland this week..it’s been a juggle and lots of catching up on things early in the morning/when they are in bed, but | am incredibly grateful to have some quality time with them, and not have to ask permission to do it! (.
Today I visited the largest (I think?!) second hand bookshop in the UK Barter Books, somewhere I’ve wanted to go for aaages (girls were persuaded with promises of ice cream) and some more castles.
Good Connections Telecom Ltd continues to grow very fast, again, incredibly grateful and excited for this, so these last couple of weeks I also found the time to onboard two new broadband customers who were opening new offices, and one new mobile customer, order the phones for two further mobile customers who will go live next week.
Plus send out quotes, lost track of how many!
We also found a solution for a customer struggling with current broadband speeds - this will go live next week and will hopefully help them, and provided a listening ear and advice for another client who is having awful trouble getting a final bill from her loosing supplier since moving over to me - being passed from pillar to post. I am not one to name and shame but safe to say they are a large company so should do better. We got it sorted in the end.

Another week of going for a ‘change of scene’ with the kids. I’ve taken them up to Northumberland for a few days - hoping to drag them round some castles and second hand bookshops while also juggling work. Anyone who loves history (like me) I would definitely recommend visiting Beamish Museum - absolutely fab day and the kids loved it. And….just so this post is vaguely telecoms related O2 signal was pretty poor but I was very impressed that in a really large, outdoor site in the vast majority of places fast free Wi-Fi was available - well done! Not quite in keeping with the historical feel but very useful for me who needed to check in on emails on a semi regular basis 👍👏
