Today is World Mental Health Day.

Most of the people we work with are self employed. Up a roof, in a van, in someone’s loft, on their own for most of the day with nobody to talk to.

The trades aren’t known for talking about this stuff. People say they’re fine because it’s easier than the alternative.

So ask twice. If someone tells you they’re alright and something about it doesn’t sit right, ask again. That second question is usually the one that gets an honest answer.

Got a text from one of our landscaping clients last week and had to share it 👇

8 jobs accepted or done. £80,300 in sales. And that’s before the couple of Google jobs from earlier, so in his words it’s “prob over 100k”.

The Meta side of it:

✔ £25 a day budget
✔ £1,474.18 spent in total

Just under 2 months in.

Big credit to him too. We get the enquiries coming in, but he’s the one turning them into jobs. Serial closer.

Bad day to be a locked car.

Six enquiries for A Star Locksmiths in a single day. £15.55 spent. £2.59 each.

46% of everyone who clicked the ad turned into an enquiry. Nearly one in two.

Locksmith work is pure intent. Nobody casually browses for a locksmith. They are stood outside their car or their front door at the worst possible moment, they search, and they ring the first name that looks like it can actually help.

Get in front of them at that exact second and this is what a day looks like.

86 leads in the last 30 days at £4.74 each. Most of them booking a survey. 4 of the first 6 quoted jobs already won. 7 surveys booked in a single week.

Month one was finding the rhythm. Testing angles, audiences, creative. Month two is what it looks like once you have found it.

Month three should be 30x plus. Comfortably.

Their words, not ours: “Most of them booking surveys and we’ve won 4/6 quoted jobs already.”

Their only problem now is finding more painters.

That is the job. Not leads for the sake of leads. Work you can actually put on the books.

Lee just got his van sign written.

Six months after we switched his ads on. Not before.
Most trades do it the other way round. Wrap, logo, uniform, website, all paid for out of hope. Then they sit and wait for a phone that was never going to ring on its own.

Lee did the boring bit first.

Turned the leads on. Built the systems so nothing went cold. Sharpened the sales process until the quotes actually landed.

Then he got the van done.

Branding is the reward for a business that already works. It is not the thing that makes it work.
