September approaching! A little update from me 🌻
I have to say I’ve had the most GLORIOUS summer! For the first time in a long time feeling like the work / life balance is sort of actually balancing - previously feeling guilty for taking time out to parent all summer.
I won’t lie the first ten days was a really hard adjustment; I spent most of this time with my loops in (IYKYK) crying into a pillow over non-existent bedtimes and constant requests for food, paired with the bloody hose pipe ban and it being way too hot to even let the children in the garden for fear of sunstroke (though feeling extremely jammy that we got air conditioning installed in our house last year 😮‍💨) - but then I sat down one day and drew out a calendar and planned every single day out. Stuck it on the wall so the oldest could read it (and tell his little sisters) and all of a sudden it started to flow nicely!

For the first time in 2 years I’ve made it to the Progressive Greetings Henries finals! In three awesome categories. Really chuffed to have made it this far, and good luck to all the fantastic finalists. You are all worthy winners.
And thank you to all the wonderful judges for enjoying my designs enough to put your vote against my name. That’s a huge deal!

My journey into greeting cards started 12 years ago when I ‘accidentally’ got a greeting card design into Paperchase. I know right, that does sound weird! (And if you want to know more you’ll have to pause and read my journey in the video!)

But despite having had a lil toe in this industry for 12 years I’ve only really felt ‘worthy’ of even applying for any henries awards since I did my first trade show 2 years ago, that’s when I think I went ‘full foot’ as it were.

And 2 years later I only just feel like I could find the time to enter a board for consideration for the Henries Lynn Tait Award - for Young Designer or Artist of the year. Because life be life-ing. And that’s sort of my point.

I have created this 3D book titled ‘Slow and Steady - the story of Two For Joy Illustration’ - documenting my creative journey into cards and all the things I’ve been doing along the way, including my career and growing and birthing three small humans.
Because I and proudly slow and steady 🐌

Anyway as ever I did try to document the process, and ended up with these little clips and then I accidentally recorded a 25 minute clip of me eating my dinner which you’ll be pleased to know I have cut out 🤣🤣

Judging is soon and I think we find out who made the next stage at some point in early August EEEK!

Just chuffed to have found the time to enter this year! ###

TL;DR - when shopping with a brand for the first time, pretty please reach out and get that brands direct link. We need to screen grab that conversation and provide it to Faire 🤩 Thank you!

Another fabulous London pride 🏳️‍🌈 with the Greeting Card Association sharing the greeting card love and handing out 25,000 free cards - reminding myself of how much JOY cards bring to people!

I felt super proud this year also to have designed three cards which made it to the masses 🤩

I brought my sister again this year and pride + musical seems to be lovely annual tradition. We went to see Beetlejuice as I saw it 6 weeks ago in preview week and just had to go again 🤩🤩

This year was a lot busier than last year and also a lot hotter , can’t beleive I took barely any photos at all so these are mainly all from Gina ❤️✨

So blinking chuffed to have shown the actual dies that make my die cut cards , this week at my recent trade show !

The die is like a cookie cutter for greeting cards. It can be made bespoke to any shape and size I like, and I have to design it all myself with the cut and crease marks - which translates into metal wood and foam.
The paper village die is particularly interesting because I have created so many extra folds and cuts than a normal greeting card. I think they have 15 creases (as opposed to one central crease) and 5 cutting blades within the die.

I absolutely love a behind the scenes / factory tour / how’s it’s made vibes - and so many customers at the show loved it too.

My fabulous printers for my die cut ranges are and they were also exhibiting so they very kindly brought them along, and also took them away at the end of the show. Infact this paper village die is going on the press this week, as I’ve already placed my bulk order for the stock!
