AI might be saving businesses money. But who’s going to be left to spend it?

We’re watching businesses replace people with technology that can complete hours of work in minutes.

And whilst AI has its benefits, I think we’re overlooking a much bigger problem.

The people losing their jobs aren’t just employees. They’re customers. They’re parents. They’re people with mortgages, rent and bills to pay.

Take away their income, and you take away their spending power.

So what happens when businesses have nobody left who can afford their products or services?

I’m not against AI. I use it myself. But there’s a massive difference between using technology to help people do their jobs and using it to make those people unnecessary.

We need to start thinking beyond short-term profits and consider what this means for everyone in the long run.

Businesses need to invest in people, not just automation. And we need to support the businesses that do.

Because an economy can’t survive on efficiency alone. It needs people who can afford to participate in it.

I’m genuinely interested to hear what people think.

Would you pay more to support a business that employs people rather than replacing them with AI?
