At Computer Recyclers UK, being carbon offset-certified shows our measurable commitment to reducing our environmental impact.
Carbon offset certification means that our emissions are measured, and an equivalent amount of carbon credits is purchased and permanently retired on our behalf, funding projects elsewhere that reduce or remove CO2 from the atmosphere, such as renewable energy schemes or woodland creation. Because those credits are retired, they can never be resold or reused, and the whole process is independently verified
This certification means we're independently verified for the steps we take to counter the carbon footprint of our operations. During our last reporting period, that added up to 32.22 tonnes of CO2e Emissions offset.
Alongside our other certifications, this lets our clients know that when their IT equipment comes to us, it's handled responsibly at every stage, for data security and the environment.
In our latest reporting period, Computer Recyclers UK's refurbishing and reusing of IT equipment services prevented over 18,000 devices from becoming e-waste, resulting in 4,630.37 tonnes of CO2e emissions saved compared to manufacturing new equipment. Being carbon offset-certified is how we make sure the rest of our footprint is accounted for, too.
