Hi guys,

I have seen a lot of malware, adware and viruses this year. Unfortunately it looks like the traditional antivirus programs aren't quite up to the job anymore.

This is a good read if you want to keep yourself and your data safe.

Antivirus should be a last-ditch line of defense, not something you rely on to save you. To stay safe online, you should act as if you had no antimalware software on your computer at all.

We there is a great little app for your phone called Tengi. If you use Whatsapp you will feel right at home but what is good about this little messaging app is that it gives away cash prizes just for using it every Friday! A good way to start the weekend. I won a fiver in my first week and you can take it as cash or as an Amazon voucher.

Take a look! Get it at www.tengi.com

Chatting with Tengi gets you tickets for a weekly free prize draw, with a top prize of £1,000 and hundreds of smaller cash prizes. The more friends you have on Tengi, and the more you chat, the more tickets you get – so the better your chances of winning

Hi guys,

I have been away a while, sorry about that but a new baby does that.

Ok, if you have Windows 8, 8.1 or 10 and you want the good old start menu back (not the ad riddled one in Windows 10) then head over to classicshell.net, download and install in a few seconds and you will have the good old start menu back.

When installing I usually turn off classic explorer as it changes the options in your folders.

Hope that helps.

The Start Menu is a staple of the Windows experience and should be streamlined, efficient, and unmolested by the greater world beyond the operating system and programs it serves as a portal to. Microsoft brought the Start Menu back to the forefront in Windows 10 but they spoiled it in the process.

Less than 2 weeks before Windows XP support ends! Make sure you upgrade before the 8th April!

There is a great free competition online. As I said it will cost you nothing and if your postcode comes up you can share the winnings. This is all paid for by advertisements. Why not give it a go? http://freepostcodelottery.com/?ref=74465

Hi Guys,
Just wanted to ask how many of you are still on Windows XP? Microsoft are laying XP to rest on 8th April this year, after which you will receive no more updates. Now while this might not seem like a bad thing it really is! When some loopholes are found, and they will be, you will be open to attack.

XP was a great Operating system but is is nearly 13 years old and well behind the times.

You can only update to Internet Explorer 8 on XP, the current version is 11 on Windows 7 and 8. You can only use Direct X 9, the current release is also 11.

I would recommend upgrading to Windows 7 or 8. If your computer/laptop is over 5 years old I would recommend just buying a new system.

If you have the money now is a good time while the sales are on.

The minimum specifications you should be looking for is an Intel i3 processor, 4Gb of RAM and a 500gb Hard Drive. This machine should cost you around £300. This is what I would recommend for a low budget everyday machine. This will browse the Internet, run your Office suite and run any other application you can throw at it.

If you are a gamer or are creative with video, images or music you will need something a little more powerful. Go for an i5 processor, 6 - 8Gb RAM and 1Tb hard drive. For video, gaming and graphics you will also want a dedicated graphics card. Look for a Radeon 7770 or a Nvidia GTX 650 Ti minimum. These machines will probably cost between £500 and £750 depending on if you need the graphics grunt.

Good luck in the sales!

If you have Windows 8 and you want to open a folder on the desktop just hold down the Windows key on your keyboard and hit the E key at the same time... Voilà! A window will pop up so you can browse your files.

This also works on all other versions of windows.

You can also press and hold the Windows key and tap the R key to get the run command.
