Today is a chill day with this one 🐶
The kids break up today, so I’m enjoying my last day of quiet for the next two weeks 🤣

Behind the scenes, I’ve been working hard getting everything ready for January, and I’m so excited to start getting these sensory bags out to people who need them. This project means so much to me, and I truly hope it helps make a difference, even in a small way 💛

I’ll be sharing our new email address and the request form at the start of January, so keep an eye out for more info very soon 👀✨

If you’re able to, please share the page so we can reach and support more people — it really does help more than you know 🤍

Thank you all, always 🌈

🎄 Christmas Isn’t Easy for Everyone — And That’s Okay 🎄

For many neurodivergent people, Christmas can be overwhelming rather than joyful.

Noise. Crowds. Bright lights.
Changes to routine. Social pressure.
The expectation to feel a certain way.

This poster is a gentle reminder that:
💚 It’s okay to skip events
💚 It’s okay to leave early
💚 It’s okay to say no
💚 It’s okay to celebrate differently

You are not difficult.
You are not ungrateful.
You are not broken.

The best gift we can give each other this season isn’t perfection —
it’s understanding, patience, and acceptance.

Please feel free to share 💫
You never know who might need this reminder right now.

With lots of changes happening (I finally managed to do the name!) I thought it would be good to do a post about what we are and will be doing ❤️

🌈 What is Kind Minds Sensory Bags? 🌈

Kind Minds Sensory Bags is a small, lived-experience-led project created to support neurodivergent people through gentle, practical sensory care.

As a mum to a neurodivergent child and someone with lived experience of disability, this project has been built from understanding, not assumptions.

Each Kind Minds sensory bag is designed to support:
🧠 communication
🙂 emotional regulation
🧸 sensory comfort

The bags include simple, accessible tools such as visual supports, emotion aids, and a sensory fidget. Everything is created with kindness, respect, and real-life experience at the heart of it. Will also contain practical information and support to help people ❤️

This project exists because many neurodivergent people need support that is:
• practical
• non-judgemental
• easy to use
• not overwhelming

Kind Minds Sensory Bags will operate within sustainable limits to protect health and wellbeing, while focusing on offering support to those who need it most.

🌱 More information will be shared in January, including:
• how to request a sensory bag
• how to support Kind Minds going forward

Thank you for being here and supporting a project built on kindness, trust, and lived experience 💛

Over the next few days you will see some changes! Firstly our cover photos and our logo!
We will also be changing our name once I work out how to do that 😂😂

Thank you so much for the love and support!
Exciting things ahead!!

💛 A New Chapter 💛

I’ve loved running Alternative Curiosity over the last few years more than I can put into words. Creating, designing, and sharing my work — especially within the neurodivergent community — has been such a special part of my life, and I’ll always be proud of what I built.

Over time, though, my health has changed. Living with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) has made using my hands for long periods increasingly difficult, and I’ve had to be honest with myself about what is sustainable. Stepping back from making and selling physical products hasn’t been an easy decision, but it’s a necessary one.

Rather than stepping away completely, I’ve chosen to let my business evolve into something that’s kinder to my health while still allowing me to give back in a meaningful way.

I’m really proud to introduce Kind Minds Sensory Bags 🌈
A small, lived-experience-led project offering free sensory support to autistic and neurodivergent people. These bags are designed to help with communication, emotional regulation, and sensory comfort — created with understanding, care, and real-life experience at the heart of everything.

This change allows me to continue supporting the neurodivergent community in a way that is gentler, more accessible, and sustainable for me, while still staying true to why I started Alternative Curiosity in the first place.

Because of my health, I’ll also no longer be trading at Artisan Island. I want to say the biggest thank you to the team and community there — it’s been an absolutely amazing experience, and I’m so grateful for all the support, encouragement, and opportunities. I wish Artisan Island every success moving forward 💛

So what’s changing?
Alternative Curiosity will now be known as Kind Minds Sensory Bags, with a new name and logo that better reflects this next chapter. Instead of selling products, I’ll be focusing on creating and sharing sensory bags for those who need them, offered free of charge (with a small postage fee to cover delivery while funding is limited).

Everything will continue to be led with kindness, trust, and lived experience — just in a way that’s more manageable for my health.

Kind Minds Sensory Bags will be starting in January, and I’ll share more information closer to the time about how to request a bag and other support.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Alternative Curiosity over the years. Your kindness and encouragement have meant more than you know. This next chapter feels different, but it feels right — and I’m hopeful about what’s to come 💛
