Belatedly asking partners for their views on the discontinuation of physical media suggests that Sony is finally realising how consequential that decision is

04/10/2026

🚨 Sony's entire justification for killing discs is that "nobody buys physical anymore." Spain's actual sales data just called that a lie.

According to AEVI (Spain's official video game association, using GSD tracking), Marvel's Wolverine sold 36,370 physical copies in its first week, compared to just 14,945 digital. That's not a close race. Physical outsold digital by nearly 2.5 to 1, and made up roughly 7 out of every 10 copies sold.

This isn't a fan survey, a viral tweet, or a boycott headcount. This is one country's official industry sales body, tracking real transactions, for one of the biggest games of the year.

If people are still buying discs at this rate in 2026, ask yourself who's actually being served by getting rid of them.

PlayStation is reportedly sending a lengthy survey to game developers with a question about how they sell physical games after their decision to stop producing physical game discs prompted intense backlash.

Merch merch, as far as the eye can see - but discs are too expensive 🤦

Someone tell me why Vinyl is okay for them to produce but a blu ray disc is out of the question?

I smell a rat, I think it's another market test to FORCE everyone into buying a RENTAL of GTA 6 before then releasing a base game at a later date on several discs.

Rockstar can spend millions on real world marketing and create a 400 $ merch box full of clutter, but releasing the actual product in a proper state is too much to ask. You have no idea how much this industry is laughing behind your backs while you still fill their pockets.

Destiny IS BACK, with Bungie apologising and admitting they have heard the voices, they are un-vaulting content and bringing the game back into active development!

This is a HUGE win for the community!

fully support this choice!

Some stores have decided not to stock GTA 6 after its "physical" edition was revealed to come without a disc 👀

Video Games Plus and Loot Box Gaming are among the retailers refusing to sell it, believing a full-price physical release should include an actual physical copy.

They say their stance would change if Rockstar eventually puts out a version of GTA 6 that includes a disc.

Another completely on disc build that works as it should !

Onimusha: Way of the Sword Series X

Does it play offline? Yes

Does it require a download? No

Plays really well. Only encountered some framedrops during cutscenes. No major issues otherwise during the playthrough.
