Looking for a solid + high performance Graphics card without breaking the bank?
The Aorus GTX 1080 Ti Extreme 11Gb comes to mind as one of the best choices out there.
Paired with a good processor it even challenges some of the RTX 3060..
Some of the RTX cards are known for issues with their Micron memory modules.. whilst older GTX 1080 TI cards were built to last

Here is an interesting benchmark putting a GTX 1080 TI to the test , in comparison with a more recent card, an RTX 3060

Performances and disparities will of course vary depending on game titles, newer games optimisations etc.
Still, some very impressive performance for an older Graphics Processor whilst playing in 1440 p or 4k... (With a Graphic Processor Unit - named 'GP102' , Released early March 2017 ... the 1080 TI Extreme runs @ 1746 Mhz..
RTX 3060 cards run the 'GA106' Graphic Processor, released 2nd week of Jan 2021.. and reaches speeds of 1777)

We know why the GTX 1080 TI (Microarchitecture named 'Pascal' after Blaise Pascal) was called the 'G.O.A.T' of gpus.. (GOAT = Greatest Of All Time)

8th Gen i7 Intel chips.. one of choice when it comes to finding the sweetest spot on the market (Considering power consumption, overall temperatures (overclocked or not), ease of and result of overclocks (5Ghz stable on all cores..) price point as well as total core - and thread count..

When a potential client says they ve got an i7 7700K ('Kaby Lake' and this one ebing The best possible chip for a Z170 chipset board)..
I still have to let them know that they are better off getting a Z390 (or Z370) board and pair it with an i7 8700K for an average cost of £90 for cpu and £80 to £180 for the board

Yep the 8700 K ('Coffee Lake') still is a great performing beast to this day, especially when taking advantage of the unlocked multiplier lower temps and making use of all 12 threads..

Additionally of course, many of the better boards with Z390 chipset accomodate for X3 (off the box) and up to X7 NVME 'drives' at reading speeds pf 3500mb/s - with ease - . ...
And it is,
A trully different world
For any and all applications

Anything higher than that worth the expense starts from 12th gen chips ('Alder Lake') with the 600 series chipsets that supports DDR5 Ram, PCIe 5 capable that alllow for the use of newer nvme 'drives' operating at 7500mb/s
Then of course here, everything is at a different price bracket

If you are with Z170 boards and an i7 7700K
Our suggestion to upgrade and see real changes for minimal expense definitely is the Z390 boards that are compatible with 8th gen as well as 9th gen INTEL CPUS, with the i9 9900K being the king in the arena there
