Weird one this morning, Nintendo Switch Customer states charging port was badly damaged, they attempted repair it didnt work so they butchered everything... I had to reball/redo m92t and bq as they touched and failed.

I then checked USB lines with insertion tester and found the D+ and D- lines were open line, removed their port and was still short. Traced D+ and D- directly to APU. I lifted APU and short was gone so replaced with known good chipset.

From there i was getting an instant 80-100mah boot powering with VBAT which led me to CPU Regulator MAX77812, I replaced and then got a boot on button press of 160mah down to 120mah and down to 100mah indicating battery fuel guage was damaged. Replaced this and console now boots.

Customer device not charging or powering on, turns out the charging port had snapped and pins had crossed also damaging the thunderbolt 4 retimer causing no power issue.

All fixed 👍🏻

So we have created a discord server called "Micro Soldering Academy" It is aimed towards people in the repair industry but if you arent in the industry that is also fine if you want to be a peeping Tom!

You can chat, get help, give help, show off your work, create tutorials in the forum and also request repairs with myself and some other technicians.. We are going to allow resellers and suppliers their own sections too so if you are interested in that, get in touch.

There will be some cool content and guides here so i believe over time will be worth the button clicks even if you want to mute and browse in your own time. We will be doing giveaways for technicians in the future. My tools and apps for the industry will be posted and shared here.

If you are an active poster and reputable technician and want access to your own channel to show off work get in touch.. We will also do this for LCD refurbishers etc too and anyone who has unique services to offer.

Steam deck…. charging light was stuck on because this chip decided the pin that controls SYS and VBUS wouldn’t switch between the two.

Anyway this tiny chip has been swapped and all is right with the world.
