Back to it after a short Easter break - but it’s still been a busy few weeks behind the scenes!

Our latest editions of The Doorsteppa have now been delivered, including our newly expanded areas, reaching even more homes across South Yorkshire and North East Derbyshire.

The feedback from these new areas has been fantastic. We’ve even had residents say they haven’t received a free local paper or magazine through their door for over 10 years - which really shows how much it’s valued in the community.

And as always, there’s no slowing down - we’re already well underway with planning and setting up May’s issues.

Exciting news from The Doorsteppa! 🎉

We’ve just gone to print with our latest editions, and there’s even more to look forward to…

From April, we’re expanding our distribution to reach even more local homes. Our magazines will now also be delivered to Handley, Marsh Lane, Spinkhill, High Moor, Woodthorpe and Mastin Moor 🙌

That means even greater coverage for our advertisers and more local households receiving The Doorsteppa each month.

A project we’re incredibly proud of is nearly ready…

We’ve almost completed the design and publishing of a new book of poetry, and are about to head to print.

This book celebrates the life and work of Dave Froggatt - a well-known local author and poet, remembered by many in Killamarsh for both his writing and his eccentric charity work. His contribution to the community was so valued that he was made a Freeman of the village.

Dave also ran the Killamarsh Voice magazine for many years and wrote his poetry under the pseudonym ‘Owd Tup’ - a name many will fondly recognise.

It’s been a privilege to help bring this project together and play a part in preserving a piece of local history.

We’re looking forward to seeing the finished books come off the press very soon.

Celebrating local success 👏

At The Doorsteppa, we’re always proud to share positive stories from within our community - and this is a great one.

Sarah Cardwell, a lifestyle consultant based in Eckington, has been recognised as a 2026 Directors Award winner by TEMPLESPA - one of the brand’s highest honours. The award recognises her leadership, business growth and contribution to the wider wellness community.

Alongside creating spaces focused on self-care and wellbeing, Sarah has also supported a number of local causes through fundraising, including Thornberry Animal Sanctuary, Eckington Belles U18s and Paces - a fantastic example of giving back to the local community.

It’s always great to see local people not only grow successful businesses, but also make a real difference along the way.

Sometimes you need a reminder of just how far you’ve come!

While clearing out an old bookcase this week, I came across Issue 1 of The Barlborough Doorsteppa. Seeing that first edition again really brought things into perspective.

What started as a small local publication has grown and evolved enormously over the years. Looking back at that very first issue, the difference in the design, the number of advertisers, and the overall scale of the magazine is remarkable.

But the thing that hasn’t changed is the purpose behind it - helping local businesses connect with local homes and communities.

Moments like this are a good reminder that building something worthwhile takes time and the support of the people around you. We wouldn’t be where we are today without the many businesses and readers who have supported us at The Doorsteppa over the years.

One of the best moments each month is when the magazines leave us and head out into the community.

The March editions of The Doorsteppa are now with our distributors and will soon be landing on doorsteps across South Yorkshire and North East Derbyshire.

A lot goes on behind the scenes each month - from advertisers booking space, artwork being designed and pages finalised, through to printing and organising the delivery routes. It’s always rewarding to see it all come together and know the magazines will soon be reaching thousands of local homes.

🎉 7 Years of The Halfway & Westfield Doorsteppa! 🎉

March marks 7 years since we launched The Halfway & Westfield Doorsteppa - our fourth and youngest publication.

When we started The Doorsteppa 17 years ago, the goal was simple: to create reliable, community-focused publications that genuinely help local businesses reach local homes. Expanding into new areas has always been both exciting and nerve-wracking, and launching the Halfway & Westfield edition was no different.

There have certainly been challenges along the way (who could have foreseen COVID!) and plenty of lessons learned. But one thing that’s remained constant is the support of local advertisers and the community itself.

Building a local publishing business takes consistency, trust and long-term relationships - and we truly wouldn’t be here without the businesses who advertise with us month after month.

Here’s to many more years of supporting local 🎉
