I’ve bitten the bullet and gone live with a Go Fund me.

I’ve been trying to get a gaming community built where we can socialise, make new friends, play games and maintain our wellbeing as well as offer repairs but I feel I’ve done all I can by myself and without help I don’t think it will come to be so please help me build this gaming space our safe haven.

Hello gamers, my name is Aaron and I’m trying to build a gaming community. A safe space for gam… Aaron Byfield needs your support for Build a gaming community

Sorry we haven’t posted much but there isn’t anything new to post yet, still waiting on the funding we have applied to so just waiting for that yes or no (hopefully a yes), we want to build a community for gamers where we can socialise, make friends, play games and help each others wellbeing as well as getting your tech repaired.

If the funding doesn’t happen how does a kickstarter or something similar sound to raise the funds to build a gaming community. The gaming community and repairs will be based in Rushden, Northamptonshire (UK). We just want to build a safe space for all to join in with some games be it video games or other games, that’s the dream.

Thank you all for being patient with us and hopefully we will be up and running soon.

We have an update, I’ve just received an email from the grants team. They have reviewed all of the applicants and we are being moved to the next stage which is the stage of either we are accepted for the grant or not chosen this time. Very excited and hoping for the best.

Still waiting to hear if we have got the funding, I’ll keep you all updated on that. In the meantime I’m going to start up our YouTube channel plus sharing the videos on other platforms. I’m hoping to record the first video on Thursday then get it edited and hopefully up not long after. I’ll share the YouTube channel link once the video is up.

I have several ideas for videos starting with PC maintenance (clean up and possible thermal paste replacement, we’ll see when I’m doing the clean up if it needs replacing). Then I have an upgrade for my PC so I’ll do a video on doing that to show you, I also have two retro PC’s one with Windows 98 and the other with Windows XP that I want to show you the parts and then show some older games running on them.

So I’m going to crack on with doing videos while waiting for funding to hopefully get a store to be able to start doing repairs and create the gaming hub for us to socialise and play some games together retro and new.

I’ve been looking into the increase costs with building PC’s since RAM prices have increased due to the AI boom and RAM shortage issues.

I used parts picker to build my personal PC which in its current form cost me when I built it £1920.99.

PC Specs:
Motherboard: A320m
CPU: Ryzen 7 5700G
RAM: 32gb DDR4 3200mhz
GPU: RX 6800 XT
SDD: 128gb SSD, 4TB Samsung 990 Pro M.2
HDD: 3x 1TB HDDs
PSU: Corsair RM750 750w

Building it on parts picker with current prices and this is with some parts missing or changed due to them not having them it will cost £1989

Parts Picker PC Specs:
Motherboard: A520
CPU: Ryzen 7 5700
RAM: 32gb DDR4 3200mhz
GPU: RX 6800 XT
SDD: 256gb SDD, 4TB Samsung 990 Pro M.2
PSU: Corsair RM750 750w

In conclusion it’s not too far off and some parts are better than I have though when I built mine it was upgraded over 4 years with the costs being just what I upgraded at that time so upgrade one CPU, kept my old GPU. Upgrade two GPU, upgrade three 32gb RAM from 16gb RAM. Upgrade four 4TB Samsung 990 Pro M.2 NVME. I couldn’t afford to buy it all outright.

The only original parts to how my PC started out life is the motherboard and SSD with Windows on and one of the 1TB HDD. I’m an advocate for upgrading what you have overtime though if you can afford to buy outright then do but with both ways wait for sales and price drops. For example my GPU bought in 2023 was £569 now it’s £963.

I hope that helps some of you and AM4 systems are still a viable option.

An update on funding and hopefully getting a store to do repairs and gaming. I’ve had an email from the grant office, they are now going through all the applicants but if we aren’t selected this time we will be automatically entered for the grant again when it opens up again. Fingers crossed we get the funding this time and can begin to reduce e-waste and build a community for gamers to socialise and meet up with each other, play some games and look out for each others wellbeing.

I hope everyone had a good Christmas and I’m sorry I didn’t post wishing you all a happy Christmas I was busy celebrating with my family and getting batteries in my kids presents lol.

Anyhow, I have a couple of video ideas for YouTube and shorting them for other platforms. I’ll be doing upgrades, repairs and cleaning out systems as well as showing retro tech and building/upgrading retro PC’s. Keep a eye out for the videos and hopefully I’ll be hearing about funding soon.

Have a wonderful rest of your Christmas and a happy new year.

Who likes their devices to keep working? well I think we all do.

Who would like upgrades for those devices? I sure most would.

Who likes gaming and would like a space to meet up with other gamers and play retro and new games with weekly events like esports tournaments? I hope you do.

Good news if you answered yes to all, we have just applied to some grants in the hopes to bring all of this to you. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻 that we are accepted and we will bring the above to you soon.

I’ve got news on the company front, we are now a registered Limited Company. Welcome AzDex Labs Ltd.

It’s going to be confusing due to post my business partner has been posting and I know he’s excited and wants to drum up business for us but we are not trading yet as I’m still waiting for the t’s to be crossed and i’s to be dotted on funding to rent a space and buy equipment to get us started. If all works out we will hopefully be up and running in the new year so please keep an eye out for updates on our venture.

PC/Laptops/Console repairs, upgrades for your systems with our aim to keep e-waste from going to landfills. A gaming space to come and socialise and play esports games with friendly fun tournaments. A teaching platform to learn or sharpen your digital skills and learn how to build PC’s. Our goals are to create a community for gamers where we can all have a space to use and keep your tech running and from going into e-waste.
