🧵 🪡 Strange thoughts often pop into my head while sewing. Some things I’ve been thinking about lately…

1. The white/cream wide leg trouser trend. How many uses does the average person get out of these before they a. Spill tea/coffee/wine/curry on them? b. A dog jumps up at them with muddy paws? c. Accidentally wear them gardening/diy? They look ace but I would definitely ruin them on the first day.

2. After coffee with my friend Elise. WHO are the neurotypical people???? I have no idea… answers in the comments please? Who are you? What do you do?

3. How do I get my work in magazine Christmas gift guides????? It’s on my list every year to do. I always miss the chance 😆

✨ Another little blast from the past, this time a look back at the journey of my leather earrings. Going back to 2019 when I’d got back from holiday with some new earrings which i loved but were just too heavy and uncomfortable to wear.

What a lovely festi weekend 🌞 , today is the last day at in the with a lovely group of creatives 💖.

Went wild with this stand set up, showcasing all the colours ✨ (this is where my heart belongs, in the colour!) - this green velvet I’ve had for years I actually want to make a jumpsuit with it but it just looks too good!! But also, how amazing are the pink peonies (a bargain buy from )😍.

There’s been so much love for the gold, metallics and glittery mermaid colour 😍 and the new green colour way of the bamaluz earrings. I sold out of my Kensa earrings in gold and have heard a few stories about friends who bought them years ago and how much they love them! Which is amazing! I’ve seen a few well loved pouches too!

I’ve been doing this since 2018, celebrating 8 years in November since I made my first leather pouch and it’s just so lovely to hear about where customers have seen my work over the years (a lot of mentions of !), who they have bought things for in the past and those who have recieved my work as gifts. 🥰

✨ some ramblings ✨ I’ve been busy prepping for this weekend which I’m super excited about but also feeling slightly stressed! I’ve gone absolutely mad with colour which is making me very happy! It’s a very different look to my last event. It’s been fun creatively as I’ve been trying new colour combinations too.

However it’s been stressful too I just feel really behind at the moment, I got poorly last week and it kind of wiped 10 bells of s*** out of me - I came down with it after my last event and it meant I got a bit behind with work, then the bank holiday didn’t help even though I worked the Saturday and bought lots of things home to do in the evenings and spare time and had help from Sammy too.

Yesterday lovely Chloe came and helped me get through most of the customer orders from the weekend, but it was one of those days where I thought oh we will get through that in no time, but most things were out of stock so we had to make a lot from scratch, I ran out of packaging and components and had to do some ordering and the day just flew by.

Today was just manic, I was in the studio desperately trying to pull together the stand for Great Estate, quibbling over which colours to take, which spare stock to take, figuring out which table cloth to take and decide on the pricing labels. Changing my mind every five minutes and driving myself insane. Rubbish and stuff everywhere, a huge delivery which I simply did not have the time or energy to lug up from reception (sorry Krowji). There was a moment when I just thought I’ve taken on too much I can’t do it 😳. I think the heat got to me a little. Thankfully I think it’s all come together, I think. I hope! Just got a very busy morning tomorrow finishing off customer and wholesale orders and hoping I have to time make some last minute bits for the festival.

I bought some homework back with me tonight and sat in the garden making some earrings. It was lovely in the sun 🌞.

Also I’m disappointed in myself that I haven’t been for a sea swim yet this year even in this roasting heat 🤦🏼‍♀️ who am I???

🌟 Did you see it yesterday? 😳🌟 excited and very nervous to offer my first ever workshop with at the end of the month. We’ll be designing and making festival ready leather earrings ✨. These were just a few designs I did, but you can choose whichever colours you’d like and you’ll be cutting out your own shapes.

In the workshop we will be designing our own leather earrings, playing around with designs and colourful scraps of leather ♻️ to cut and assemble your very own earrings that you’ve designed in either a hoop or hook style.

There’s just 6 spaces and you’ll have to be going along to the great estate to book on. I’ve kept it very limited as I don’t have a huge amount of tools so some sharing will be required - I’m also quite nervous, I never thought a workshop would be something I’d do! It’s over 18s too just because we will be using sharp scissors and hammers 🔨.

🌞 I’ve almost caught my breathe from the weekend, so I can now share my next event which is with in about 10 days time!

I’m hoping to bring all the glitters, metallics and brights to the festival! I’m also going to bring some special offers too (don’t worry there will be some online ones coming in June too) and also have a special announcement which will be a first for me!

Exciting ✨ anyway lots to get on with before then and I had forgotten about the bank holiday and I’m recovering from a cold! Eek! Today I need to make a start on 240 napkin rings! 💖

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that the worst bit of a market is the take down, the lugging of all the stuff, the sad goodbyes to new friends 💔, the hangover from the weeks of work leading up to it and the sadness that it’s over! 😢

P.s. still just refusing to entertain the algorithm / instagram with perfect pictures and reels. I’m going for reel life instead 😁 and you know what I don’t mind if you like this post or not. If you do that’s lovely because more people will see my work ❤️ but if you don’t, this little post is just here capturing a moment in time. A little outpost of life, work and the grit to carry this little lot up 25 steps, into a car and then unload and up in the lift and along the corridor to my studio.

🌞 End of day high tide vibes and the tent quietening down - see the sea 😍😍😍. It’s been so so lovely to be back out in the real world with the new designs and new materials. Hearing feedback first hand, hearing about pieces customers have gifted, loved and received over the years and what they use them for. Even customers on holiday telling me they’ve bought my earrings from their local shop at home - pretty amazing.

It’s been a beautiful event, thank you so much to 💖 and to my gorgeous stand neighbours & for making the event a real delight.

I needed this deadline creatively, it’s been a huge investment in time and I couldn’t have done it without .by.clo / & helping me out in the studio and my mum and my husband Sam for evenings of trimming and putting studs in pouches!

I find it difficult to work on a new collection or brand development without an event, it’s difficult when the end result is just going to be online on a website but having a deadline and something to focus on really brings it all together - the panic, the focus and continuous thought. It’s exhausting, but needed!

This body of work will form new collections to launch this summer for wholesale stockists and inspire the business development for years to come, working with my leather suppliers, developing new pieces and branding. Slowly slowly, after almost 8 years I’ve realised I don’t want to grow big and fast. This business is about sustainable growth about taking it slow, being considered and being just enough. Designed and made in Cornwall by myself, Chloe, Lucy, Lara, my husband Sam and occasionally my mum ❤️ thank you so much and here’s to another 8 years 🥂

Last day at the festival today 🌞 🏝️ 🌊 in two weeks time though you’ll find a whole new collection I’ll be bringing the metallics, brights and bolder earrings!
