Last week the UK Government launched its first National Artificial Intelligence Strategy. It will help the UK put their citizens first when using AI to improve people’s lives, and solve global challenges such as climate change and public health.

Ethical AI plays a big role in the new strategy but many people still find the term confusing or deliberately vague. At Mind Foundry, we don’t think ethical AI is something you can buy off the shelf - it depends on how an AI is used, who is impacted, the data that trains it, and how the entire system was designed from the very beginning. But what does that actually look like, in practice?

Insurance will be fundamentally transformed by the rise of data. But more data doesn’t mean more knowledge or better decisions. AI can help... If used in the right way.

Read InsurTech Digital’s article: AI and insurance - who’s making the decisions, to see what our CEO, Brian Mullins has to say about the benefits, risks and responsibilities of insurers working with AI.

“Human-AI collaboration is essential in helping mitigate the risks of AI. This involves developing AI systems that understand their limitations and when they need human guidance, as well as how to communicate with other agents and humans. This creates a much more intuitive and efficient relationship between humans and AI – and ultimately a more responsible and ethical outcome for the lives affected.”

Data is considered to be the new gold, but we face significant challenges of how we consume, create and share data. The digital age has inevitably heightened our ability to be influenced by the media, Government, and Big Tech.

Read what our CEO, Brian Mullins has to say in City AM‘s latest article: We have a moral duty to share our data.

“There must be transparency around the type of information they collect, how they collect it, how long it is being stored and kept secure, and ultimately how it is being used.”

In the race to adopt AI, there's a flurry of activity happening in boardrooms and technical teams across the country. According to MITSloan’s 2020 AI Global Executive Study 71% of companies surveyed said they understand how important AI is generating business value for their organisation. But only 11% of them are actually successful at doing that.

What are those 11% doing to unlock the real potential of AI?
