Your local cellar dweller is back to do his social role, and we have been boiling and busy!
From the outside, it doesn't look like our hub is very big, but it is actually a lot of space and stretches far back, which surprises everyone once they see it.
Just not quite spacious enough to store all our supplies, as so many of you in the community have come forth and given us such generous donations for many more crafts to come!
So we now extend... into the cellar. In which apparently I now dwell and today have acquired said "cellar dweller" nickname 😂
Much like many people, the cellar has seen better days, but clearly not in recent times.
Not suitable to store anything really, and as general chief of cleaning, I have a duty to fulfill.
Boss Lady started her workday experimenting with pincushion ideas (separate post on these trials soon!! 👀)
before we had a few more of our lovely volunteers arrive, and together they all tackled sorting out storage and organisation.
We have another new arrangement going on after some upgrades to our displays, and some of our craft creators have recently brought cool new stock in thats definitely worth a peep in.
I cracked on trying to start clearing things down in the cellar. I started sweeping, and initially thought it was pointless. It seemed like the ground was just entirely soil, and too wet to brush up.
That was until a small chunk came up and I saw brick tile underneath. I swept the first layer to the sides and then got a scraper.
Me and scrapers are best friends at this point.
Turns out the whole floor is just coated in a thick layer of soil debris, and there's actual decentish paving under it. So I spent the next 3 hours trying to thoroughly scrape away this weird compacted mess.
Still a lot to go, but a decent start on the works. Last photo is just me pretending to be a moth. I really like moths.
Everyone else has also pitched in with the cleaning and DIY of the kitchen space that had a lot needed done to get it up to standards, carrying and transferring displays, taking logs of new stock, and helping maintain the space and chill environment.
We play hard, work hard and craft harder
Have a good evening all 😊
