One of the trickiest things as a photographer is capturing someone who's facial expressions are constantly changing.

Knowing at which specific moment to focus and shoot to capture someone at their best.

It was a joy working with Anthony Ward (Piano Man) recently at Browns Nottingham.

Ant wanted a collection of images for a new website he's working on, so we spent an hour or so together - me capturing stills, and Ant giving me my very own personal performance.

🇪🇬 I'm back from an incredible break in Egypt and can't wait to get back on it.

After an anxiety filled holiday in Mexico a couple of years ago, I've made it my mission to ensure the time I spend away from work now, is dedicated to R&R.

I took my laptop but spent no more than 30 minutes over the 11 nights away doing work related things (things that required zero brain power), and I replied to a handful of emails - the rest I knew could wait until I returned home.

And I didn't take my camera 📸 😯

Holidays are becoming more and more relaxing as I continue to get better at planning for time off. My head was very much where it needed to be - switched off and having the rest it deserved.

I couldn't feel more refreshed if I tried, which is good as I have a hand full of photo shoots and a website build to smash over the next two weeks.

With just under 5 weeks until my next trip, I'll be planning on bringing my laptop time down to 15 minutes or less!

Right...

Best get on it.

The last few years I said to myself, "next year I'll take the whole of August off", but never actually got around to doing it.

It's my least busy month of the year, which I imagine is the case for most of us due to it being holiday season?

One year I brought in as little as £600 for the entire month - WTAF!

So here I was planning how I'd stretch my finances out to take next month off, when I take on the most perfect project with the most perfect client.

What's my favourite kind of project I hear you ask?

It's when a brand new business (in this case an ADHD Coach) comes to me for help with their branding, photography, and their website.

I love helping budding business owners to get online and visible - especially when they trust me to take care of everything for them.

Yesterday I finalised our shoot plan and submitted the designs for their website - ADHD is such an interesting niche to be working with - lots to consider in terms of accessibility, design and the overall safe and calm vibe we're creating.

✅ I absolutely hate the thought of having my photo taken.

✅ I cringe when I see photos of myself.

✅ I can't think of anything worse than having a photo shoot.

These three statements (or thereabouts) are things I hear on a regular basis.

You don't have to have the confidence of a professional model!

You don't have to know how to pose.

And you don't need to know what you're doing.

The connection between a photographer and their subject (that's you) is something special - it's more than just a photo shoot.

But most businesses won't chance it - most don't want me to simply rock up and shoot - they want to know they're going to come out of it with an image for everything. Carefully curated multi-use images that serve a purpose - leaving no stone unturned!

There's the hardcore among my client base too - some want fresh images drip fed throughout the year - I have a package for this too - my Pay Monthly Photography Subscription.
