On 24th January 2023, it is exactly 50 years since a Lecturer and one of their post graduate students from the University of Liverpool founded a business called Cranetime, a company which would, a couple of years later, re-register as CDS Computer Design Systems Ltd.

That student, Bill Lea, holds the position of CDS Chairman to this day, with CDS and CODAS continuing to go from strength to strength under the leadership of Graeme Lea, CDS Managing Director.

Following its anniversary celebration party on 10th December 2022, CDS is marking its half centenary with a new logo for the next 12 months. We hope you like it!

A team of CDS employees are taking part in a Tough Mudder 10K Challenge at Broughton Hall in Skipton, North Yorkshire on Sunday 31st July 2022.

Tough Mudder is an annual event that takes place
all over the UK which involves a 10K run/walk, often
quite muddy, and involves teamwork to overcome a series of 20 challenging obstacles.

More importantly, we are hoping to raise vital funds for the MS Society, a charity close to the heart of CDS, that helps make a difference to everyone affected by MS. Your donations could help to buy laboratory essentials, run an MRI scanner, help pay for calls to their helpline or provide short breaks for MS sufferers and their families.

In October this year Ciarán Dorr will complete 40 years of service to C.D.S., service which has contributed enormously to the establishment of the Company’s strong position in the fuels distribution market in the UK and Ireland. Ciarán has worked with many of the Company’s clients and is known to friends and colleagues throughout the industry. It is therefore appropriate for us to make an early announcement that Ciarán will retire in July next year, 2022.

In preparation for his retirement, Ciarán has stepped down from the Company’s Board and over the next twelve months a significant aspect of his focus will be the transfer of knowledge, expertise and responsibilities to other members of the CDS team.
