We were in at a Call Centre this week who were having intermittent connectivity issues and it was amazing to listen to the conversations going on. This is a successful call centre and there was so much that was being missed by the business Good Or Bad I’m sure they would like to be an ear on every call if they could - anyone else get that?

A rainy Sunday calls for some music (today’s choice is Johnny Nash☔️) and a good book. I’m continuing to learn more about our voice with Prof. Trevor Cox ‘Now you’re talking’. The voice ages and over the years there are records of altering the voice. Castrati were the early 1900’s equivalent of pop singers in Italian Opera. More recently Cox refers to joining a choir as the equivalent, sonically of applying anti-wrinkle cream.

We envision this becoming common interaction with computing and voice moments (as amazon calls them) will merge from personal voice assistants into the workplace by 2020. It happened with smart phones and mobile devices and the next step for consumerisation of IT is voice.

The search giant unveils an experimental tool that can make appointments by calling businesses.

We had an excellent time last night thanks to Apadmi Ltd and the brilliant Voice innovations event including BBC Amazon.com The University of Salford Prof. Cox and Podcast expert Emma Houlton.

The room was full of 100s businesses innovating in Voice and the voice is loud and clear and here to stay.

Marcus Hadfield kicked off the session with a look at the early ‘talking machines’ from 1939 and we journeyed through the human voice and what it says about us by Prof. Trevor Cox from Uni of Salford and innovations around Voice assistants from Albert Creixell, Amazon Alexa, a tour of Flash Briefings from Emma Houlton at ‘Art of the Podcast’, and Architecture Expertise from Apadmi Marcus Duffy and BBC Mukul Devichand.
