EYFS & Safeguarding Changes đź’¬
What Childcare Providers Need to Know for September 2025
From 1 September 2025, all registered early years providers in England must comply with the updated Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. These reforms bring a sharper focus on safeguarding, record-keeping, and digital safety responsibilities.
Key changes include:
Strengthened staff vetting and Single Central Record (SCR) requirements, including ongoing DBS checks and clearer expectations for record-keeping.
New “Annex C” criteria for effective safeguarding training and staff induction.
More robust online safety duties: Providers must implement filtering/monitoring systems and educate children and parents about online risks.
Enhanced documentation and reporting of concerns, with a focus on identifying and responding to patterns of behaviour.
Clearer guidance on managing allegations, supporting victims, and working with external agencies.
Staying compliant can feel overwhelming, especially as manual tracking means things can slip through the cracks. HeyEd is designed to help you meet these new standards with:
• Automated SCR and document expiry tracking
• Centralised staff records and secure uploads
• Real-time compliance dashboards
• Automated reminders for vetting and training renewals
