🤥 WHO WE ARE: 🆔

We’re a very “new normal” type of collective. We connected remotely during the first pandemic.

Most of us are graduates from masters degrees at and
Some of us have never met in real life. But we’re always connecting virtually.

So…

We asked to create a shoot using pre-existing images of us taken from social media.

The result was interesting. None of our likenesses were accurate. Tbh, for a human painter to achieve likeness is a rare talent that only a few painters have.

The questions we have are…can artificial intelligence and data really represent the world as it is? Does it have to, or is a machine hallucination enough?

🎧🔥 Matrixes, GQom and Audio Reaction Vibes! 📹🎶

We’re obsessed about how simple forms and algorithms can create complex and fun outcomes 💥🎵

🔵Sketch 1
made in OpenFrameworks (C++), a very simple algorithm we learned in created from a matrix with a random component on the camera on a computer

🟡Sketch 2
Made in Touchdesigner, we took the matrix idea, added a video, some colours, and an audio reactive algorithm in Touchdesigner. The track is a self-produced GQom track.

🧘🏾‍♂️B-Ying [Being Mode]🧘🏾‍♂️

🟡B-Ying is concept for an interactive sound sculpture and pavilion. In B-Ying users are encouraged to sit mindfully for 10 minutes as they become one with the environment.

The intention behind the design is for users to explore meditation further in their own lives. Hopefully getting to understand that being at one with themselves and nature, instantly gives us more compassion for our world and each other.

🟣The pavilion is constructed of a series of speakers positioned in an inverted Ziggurat, inspired by an ancient Egyptian design.

🔵The artwork records the environment and plays it back through an interplay of purposeful sound manipulation, live data and artificial intelligence.

🟡The natural environment is played back only when users sit next to, and in the translucent speakers. The sculpture only comes alive when people come close to it.

🧘🏾‍♂️Inspired by our own explorations into meditation, where teachers talk about a ‘being mode’. B-Ying is about a place where humans are at one with themselves, nature and each other.

🟣Unnatural Selection🟣

📶🧩At KAVE, we’re obsessed about audio and interaction.

“Unnatural Selection” is a concept for an interactive musical instrument made from recycled glass. Users step on individual notes on a sensor floor to activate sound and light from the unnatural tree.

🔵Slide 1:

Each patch on the floor represents a note on a keyboard. Users are encouraged to step on the patches to trigger notes played from the tree structure.

🟣 Slide 2 & 3:

🧩Collaboration

🟣We were so captivated by our friend Yiyun kang's film work that we asked her to share her gorgeous video of dancers filmed at Sadler's Wells

🔵We very simply wanted to play with her original idea and represent it in a large scale immersive environment.
